I have a 100w light in a tiny tent with no dimmer. My canopy wound up like a bowl shape on this run because the plant wouldn't cooperate height wise. I've got some leaves taking a beating for sure but the buds are basically perfect and most are getting 1000 umols or more.
If the cabinet you're growing in is in your bedroom, run the lights at night while you're sleeping. It's free, abundant CO2 and you'd be surprised how high you can get it. This plant is getting 800-1000 ppm just from being in the same room as my wife and I and it just shrugs off the light and heat like no big deal.
The power and duration of your light (DLI) is the engine that drives your entire grow. Trying to maximize that should be a top priority, so it's better to find that upper limit and back off than never reach full potential.
If you want to make an omelette, you've got to break some eggs!
