You have a bailer that shoots the bales into the wagon, or hand load. I helped a few times when I was a kid in Virginia, was lots of fun. Riding on the hay wagon back to the barn was an adventure. Helped my friend here in NY with straw, not as much fun, wasn’t a kid anymore.

325 bales of that size, That’s for two horses, one year supply plus some extra, (roughly 400 days worth). You always need to have extra, in case the following hay season is late, no rain, too much rain, etc. and to save money you need to buy it “off the wagon” or out of the field, otherwise if the farmer puts it in his barn, then you buy, it’s a dollar or two more per bale.
Do you only get one cut per year up there?

I buy it off the wagon (still sitting in the field).

Yeah it’s damn miserable out there !! 83 on my way to work this morning. And of course I believe my central air unit needs freon as it just wasn’t keeping up yesterday !! The beetles do NOT like that spray and the wife took great pleasure in spraying the little bastards the other night 😂
Yeah. Same here. Hotter today than yesterday.

That sucks, but that's how ya save $

We sold a lot of the straw to construction companies. They'd come to the field and take the whole wagon, unload it and bring it back, and hook to the next wagon that was waiting. We'd run 4 wagons all day long. 210 bails a wagon. After I left the farm, he switched to round bailing.😮‍💨

What do you do on the boat, Hoss? Party boat? Working boat?

Growing up in Indiana I remember this time of year sometimes filling the barn with bales of hay and then coming back the next day or so and remove them as the they started to spontaneously combust in the heat and humidity, it’s really satisfying when you get to do the barn two or three times

BTW Starlink still working for you?
Yup. Working as it should. Only went down two or three times since I had it. Twice wasn’t long, the third time it was down for most of the day. Still better than what I had before. Going up from $39/month to whatever now that the introductory period is over.
