Issues with Light/Air Leaking into Closet

I'm having a big problem with light seeping through the cracks of my door. I bought sticky foam weather stripping from the depot and I put it all around the door, but you can still see the light as if the stripping wasn't there.

Also, I was thinking ahead towards the future when my girls start giving off their stank. How do I keep the closet air tight? Keep in mind I only have a 6 inch vent fan.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated

Look for the opaque black rubber stripping. Not the open-cell grey stuff.

I think it comes in a purple bag at Home Depot. Should be in the same isle.

Dude the first consideration of any growspace is the ability to ventilate that space.

You might need some drywall mods if your serious about your grow.

Eitherway, open up that door and take some pics for us and we can brainstorm for you.

Is that closet adjacent to an outside wall or is it internal in your house?

Can you mod a bit or are you renting?

First, if the door is air tight, then you had better have an air intake as big or bigger than your exhaust hole into that closet for proper air ventilation.

To seal the door, you need to get some wood strip, and make a frame that attaches to the inside of the trim where it meets the door when it closes. The only difference is that this strip will be 1/4" set back. Continue across the bottom of the doorway with maybe a 2x4 set at that same back spacing. Get some closed cell foam weatherstrip to put onto the wood strip. Use acetone to clean the wood, prior to sticking the weatherstrip for best stick. Done.

'Take a couple of pics'

'Get some wood strip'

hehe.

You're one of those hyper-stoners. You probably smoke and *get shit done* haha.

I saw that room ur mocking up.

Fucking wowzers.

Yea that's the stuff - but you'd probably want to find a 1/4" variant. TF's stuff is a little fat.

Making a second lip, per TF's suggestion, is the way to do this completely, but my way is - uhh - easier after bong rips. ;)

I'm open to any suggestion you guys feel would be best for my situation

The closet itself is NOT adjacent to any outside walls..Its measurements are 52"L x 30"W .. standard ceiling height .

I cut a 6" duct hole into the ceiling that I plumbed to a whirly bird on top of the house.

I have two fans mounted to the wall, one blowing air down and one blowing air up towards the duct hole. I also have a fan on the ground that oscillates. I leave the closet door open during the day, but at night its shut. I know I can't keep the door open during the day later into the flowering stage...

I'm running 1 400w HPS right now. I just put them into 12/12 two days ago. These ladies are going to be nice and plump when they are ready. I'm worried about having enough space for the ladies to get very voluptuous.

I am consdiering installing a low speed inline duct fan and a c02 omitter because my temps are higher than I expected. If I keep the door shut during the day with the HPS on, it gets about 90 degrees. If the HPS is on and the closet door is open it'll be around 76-80 degrees.

Please keep in mind this is my first attempt. Any pointers you guys can give would be awesome!!

gorilla,
OK. First you need you some adequate ventilation. Currently you do not have this. You need to go to the store and get you a 6" can fan. Hook that up mounted up on the ceiling, to blow out of that duct hole. Hook up a carbon filter to the inlet, so it can kill the smells when budding comes.

You will see a lot of people on here running setups like that.
Next, you will need to make an air inlet into your closet. I usually get an air conditioning vent cover and use that for an outside adjoining wall. Cut the hole towards the base of the wall. Then on the inside use an air filter, and shield it from the light in the closet.

Don't worry about Co2 yet. First time out is too soon. Get the basics working first. As far as room, you look ok. I would pull the shelf and pole. Remount some eye hooks for the light, and get some longer chain or something better on hanging your light. You are also missing the wire triangle hangers for you light hood. That would make is hang better. Are you running that timer in the picture for the lighting? If so, I would change that out for a digital version, with a battery for memory back up. Much more reliable.

Give that a try.

Thank you for your input TrichromeFan.

This weekend I plan on cutting a hole for fresh air inlet and putting a can fan in the exhaust. I'll post my progress on Monday!!
