I'm excited, after a few years of hard times, I can start growing again!!!
I built a wooden CFL Growbox back in 2006, and had monster veg plants in it, but never got to harvest because I had to move.
Well, IT'S BACK!!!!! New Forum, new start to my growbox!
It's a 2x2 foot wide box, 4 foot high, with 8 inches of attic space inside to allow heat to rise above the plants. All my main wiring and circuits are in the attic, out of the growing area!
Inside the biggest light is a bright 100W 6500K CFL underballasted on 65W ballast (to lower temps) Other Bulbs right now, 45W and 23W (adding four more lights to fill remaining sockets when plants get bigger, either 23W or more)
I have a Computer Power Supply in the attic to provide 12V/5V to power the fans and my mini water pump I use to water the plants without spilling (works like mini garden hose, just aim at soil, turn on to water, then turn off) This power supply also powers a safety circuit, so if my Power Supply for my fans fails, it shuts the lights off too, so you never have overheating. This circuit also controls my fan speed so I can cut the noise down.
The box is protected also by an 8A fuse.
For Fans, I have twin 120mm 1.2A Computer fans exhausting the attic, another 120mm inside and 92mm for air circulation. Exhaust fan speed control is separate from circulating fan speed control, to maximize airflow while keeping noise down.
Right now, just vegging 3 small clones from a custom strain I have called "Candy"
