First time grow - Pineapple express

saw a gnat flying around and didnt catch it. noticed a hole the size of #2 pencil tip in the middle of a leaf. Hopefully its not a fungi gnat :(

No sign of it now, but im going to get a pest stip and hang it just incase.

I WAS misting the room with a water bottle because the meter was saying my room was dry/super dry and i thought it should be somewhere between dry and normal.

I guess ill lay off the misting unless i get some solution that will keep insects down. maybe ill look up some organic solution.

new tent(3x3x5) and 2x2 8 bulb t-5 today. plants are at 1000ppm 5.8 ph

started some LST early this week to keep the plants somewhat the same height. One of them is just growing so much faster and drinking more water, pretty obvious in the pics.

other than that they are seemingly doing good.
i didnt add the 300watt(2700k) cfl back in the tent because the t5 is so large and i couldnt raise it any more today without redoing the hangers. Hopefully they like the new 6500k power over the old 2 bulb t-5 and cfl in the closet.

Boring update.
nutes are still on basic grow from xnutrients.com site. 15ml micro 20ml grow, ph has been climbing to 6.5 but i treat it every other day and it does pretty good. topping it off with 5.8 water so it helps.

Ordered some clearex and going to use on next flush(any day now)

One plant is still growing way better and twice canopy is twice as thick. Been cutting off the lower fan leaves as they become problems.

RH is hovering around 50% and i still don't have proper fans and have a house window fan sitting on my tent with one fan lined up as an outlet sucking air out the top. have a small clip fan that run 24/7 inside on a low setting and typically been keeping the tent open during the hours i can.(usually at night till i sleep and mostly throughout the day its open as well)

Starting to wish i didnt buy this tent as its not really wide enough for these 2 plants and they are barely at 4 wk.

I have done a little LST over the past 2 weeks and got the stems pretty much fanned out evenly. After the next flush i will drill holes in the top of the inner bucket and use pipe cleaners. The hemp string i have is too hard to work with and i use masking tape to secure it and its a pita. Tried removing the old ones but the plant slowly seems to stretch back out how it was originally.

I will be preparing a scrog screen to fit perfectly in this tent and pop it in next weekend. I was hoping to veg these for 7/8 weeks but not sure i can go that long since they already dont fit well.

Looks good. I love LST! And sure does look like you're getting crowded. Looks like a stretchy pheno. I am growing my third round of PE now and I love it! Great strain all around. Easy to grow, yields decent, smokes good, and good bag appeal. Good luck man you're going to have a wild flower period if you wait too long. PE sure can stretch in flower!!

Yea I know. I'm thinking I'll have trees by the time this is done.
The bigger plant has been growing so well, I'm thinking taking a few clones if I can without stressing it out and keeping a mother. I think it should be ok since I'm vegging so long.

Taking clones is no stress at all! You'll be good to go. Grab a couple from each. You never know which one performs best til the end. Label your clones and moms so you know which is the keeper in the end.

Does it matter where they come from? I have some lower stems that have proper growth to be candidates, but the are slow growers because of being so low. I've though about chopping them earlier because they are growing too low to survive till the end anyway, but left them to see if they have growth to be clones which they do now.

i smoked the pineapple in amsterdam this year, the taste was wonderful. Good luck.

Once I heard the pop I stopped. Should I loosen the tie down so it goes back together and heals? Or will it fill in?

I'm running out of room in this stupid closet. Almost thinking about getting a bunch of clones and starting over in something with enough room. The lst has been a major pita because the plants are so damn wide I can't fit them in the tent.

The snapped stem will heal if not completely broken off. Just splint it.

Let the LST go and flower. Take clones NOW! Lower branches are perfect. That's the best place to get clones IMO. Once the lst is let go they will try to grow upwards. PE can stretch and REALLY branch out, so yea, lst did it's job to get your girls bushed out with tops, now let them rip :) They will hold their form but struggle to grow upwards. Don't let them get too crowded or yield will suffer. There's always defoliation as well to get more penetration if things get crowded. You can still pull off a good grow here, just flower now, snatch clones with labels, and prep for next round with your clones. Remember which one comes out best because you may want to make a mama with that cut. But PE is pretty stable, so there's always seeds of that still if clones don't pull through. Hope ya figure it all out. I'll be watching!

so things got out of control fast. plants are giant.
Still dont have my hps so i cant flower. since its close to xmas and id rather not buy more equipment now im thinking of just chipping the whole plant down, taking clones and doing it over, properly.

I moved tents and have a 4x8x7 now and also the 3x3x5 for veg.

Yeah buddy, that looks a lot better after the trim. And safer with regards to mildew. I just found some PM on foliage under my trellis netting :( Bummer-but that's what I get for procrastinating on my trimming duties.

Yea that was the main reason. I figured if I didn't do it now I'd be F-ED in a few weeks. Without all that damn growth it's sure easy to make the stems go where I want lol.

So with xmas i decided i couldnt afford to buy any more equipment for my room and couldnt veg these things any longer so i threw them into 12/12 under the t5's.
i also added some 2700k 300w equivalent cfls to help out the spectrum a little.

I might transition them to the hps in a few weeks if the stretch isnt too bad but i doubt ill have the vertical space. Itll be interesting to see how they do under t5's though and i have a few more 300w(65 actual) cfls to add if i need them.

this is day 8 12/12.

i also had some cal/mag issues a few weeks back so there are some dead leaves. I needed to adjust the scrog because there was too much growth in it and didnt want to stress the plant out even more by thinning it out.
I am planning on doing another thinning session in the next few days to get the dead stuff out and thin out the lower a little more.

just found a big OOPS today. this weekend during lights on i added a CFL and plugged one into the wrong receptacle so it wasnt getting complete darkness for the last 2ish days. How likely is this to stress out and hermy my plants doing this 7days in to 12/12? im thinking im pretty fucked.

yup id tape up that stem it should heal within a week. the plants actually look pretty healthy so you seem to be doing good. no sure if you have powdery mildew at the bottom looks like it could be. you can take clones from any part of the plant although its said that taking them from lower branches it preferable but doesnt really matter in my opinion. its always a worrying time first of all.

opps sorry i didnt read the last page before i replied. with a scrog like yours, wait till theres alot of growth fillin out the top surface of the scrog, then i cut everything which has not made it through the netting. thats what i do. you have to be ruthless with the bottom growth sometimes

this scrog is kind of a practice run since i let them go too long before flowering, too long before adding a scrog screen, etc.

Im just trying to get something out of it since i was about to trash them and start fresh. Now ill probably end up with a bunch of seeds.

btw if iDO end up with hermy seeds are these any good? are they going to be all hermy? some female? what kind of ratio is normal?
