I have been taking cuttings off of flowerign plants for 2 years with no sign of genetic drift from the mother. I usually take them at 2-3 weeks. There are a couple of benefits to this:

1) the plants are loaded with P because they have been getting bloom nutes. This is better for root development, since the cuttings will be utilizing what they have stored in the plant tissues to survive until they can sprout roots.

2) MAD branching, and a killer bush with lots of tops.

It helps to take twice as many cuttings if you are new to cloning. Then pick the best of the survivors.

Heat mat is critical. Try to keep the root temps at 80 degrees or so, and I am not sure if I saw here the use of a humidity dome, but that is critical. Spray the plants 3 times a day with RO or distilled water. Make sure you air the plants out for abotu 5 minutes at least a coupel times a day to avoid fungus.

I also like to spray plants with neem oil right when I take cuts. Helps keep them from transpiring/drying out.

I wouldn't take clones off a flowering plant more than 2 weeks into flower.... even three weeks, I had failure in getting them to revert to a usable form.
My personal experience, I am sure someone will chime in and tell me about how they re-vegged a plant at 12 wks, and now it's their mother....

I'm a Clone guy, Thats what I do. I stock a local collective with clones and all I do is use my rooting tray/Humidity dome and Riot cubes.

Now while others seem to all spray there plants with neem oil, I like to hit them with some B1 Foliar spray (B1 is a rooting hormone I use it for transplanting and cuttings). The idea of using any foliar spray initially with something extra in it is that the stomata of the plant are clogged and for 1-2 days the plant will not perspire or grow at a normal rate (Atleast Vertically) I have yet to see any adverse effect on rooting from this.

Depending on the temperature of your grow room you may or may not need a heating pad, I dont use one and may loose 1/15-1/20 cuttings a round.

Cloning machines are over rated and wasteful, Go get a Humidity dome, Riot Cubes and a bottle of Clonex. Then make a 45 degree cut (with a razor blade not scissors!!) on a 3-4 inch cutting (preferably newer growth) Just like pruning a fruit tree. Then stick em in that riot cube and leave them for a week, At that point roots should start poking out of the cubes. At about a week and a half to two weeks They should be densely rooted and lookin good :D



I've done it :D Re-vegging just takes to long and I can agree that re-vegged clones are never as good as clones taken in a conventional manner. You should only do so if you must imo. As while the threat of genetic degradation isnt general heightened vigor is.

I also immediately put cuts in a bowl of ro water with a few drops of vitamin B-1 as well.

Yes! Thank you the bowl or cup of water is very important, You also dont want to hold your cuttings upside down as you can give them an air embolism(Stops nutrients from flowing up the stem)!

Also yeah, Re-vegging takes twice as long. Do you have any pictures of this mad branching :?
