Amber Glass? what does it mean to you?

ok so ive heard peeps say all kinds of things about what amber glass is or isnt.
so, what does it mean to you ie process of extraction/purging/heating/solvent used.
i have always been under the impression that its just the consistency.
really would like to get to the bottom of this.
is there a process of extraction that makes a product actual"amber glass"?TIA

i always get this from using the butane honey oil method that hashmasta kut had a thread about n i use newport lighter gas, the purest, through the stainless steel turkey baster with the coffee filter n mesh fixed over fat end pointed into a pyrex dish n then put some just boiled water in another bowl n put the pyrex dish ontop with the oil/butane liquid in for a double boil to thoroughly purge n pop all bubbles n repeat a couple time untill no more bubbles, scrape together, flatten out on some glass or a plate n put on windowsill for couple days for final purge with somethin just sitin ontop to keep dust n hairs off like a lid of a microwaveable plastic takeaway tub n im always left with some killer completly see through amber shatter goodness, u touch it n it goes sticky n gooey, u leave for 5 -10 min n cover with paper n hit with somethin hard, n look n its shattered like glass, put in a j or pipe or bong n enjoy that experiance...:)

Sounds yummy- gonna have to find me someone who can make some up for me to try!

We sure have a lot of names for the same thing, don't we?
I read it as an extract that is clear like amber colored glass, and is still in the stiff carboxylic acid form.
Most likely accomplished using a non polar extraction with butane or hexane.

All it is is good quality well purged BHO. Depending on the purging process and how it's cure and stored, and the strain itself one can get a very wide range of different physical appearances with BHO. Budder, Earwax, Amber Glass - it's pretty much all the same thing. It mostly depends on what you do after you make the extraction. Unfortunately my buddy that taught me how to make it made me promise not to share the exact details of the process. It's actually quite simply - play around with it a bit with the purging and curing and you can probably figure it out.

yep thats what i figured more about apperance. so you think it is unheated though? ie in its acidic form is that heated or raw?

thats the conclusion i have come to as well. its all in the final processing.

Decarboxylated oil loses stiffness. Our decarboxylated BHO Absolute Amber is a thick resinous oil, that will eventually flow out of the container left on its side.

k cause the way im getting it to harden is hearting in iso weird, so many damn ways to skin a cat. and just fyi ive been tellin alot fo folks to check out the skunkpharm that site is awesome.

Thanks for the good thoughts!

What temperature are you heating to? Heating enough to purge the solvents adds stiffness, but enough to decarboxylate goes the other direction.

i dont have an exact temp but just under boiling in a hot water bath in a 1/4 thick pyrex so i would assume 160f to 200 f. i really love the flav and effect of the darker stuff esp the iso ectratcts mmmmmm mmmmmmm.
but i would say with the evap maybe an hour tops at that heat.

im no pro ..but some how i allways get that amber glass.
in one of my old threads .. some one said that i purged it a lil long.
ive never checked temps, just do it the same every time

ive tried to make wax every time, and got glass. lol i want to make wax

I've always let it evaporate in a vacuum without whipping for glass and I do the double boil + whip, then vacuum for wax. i find the wax easier to deal with, as i can hold it and mold it. but the glass looks the dankest.

Never been able to able to get the wax I thought I was shooting for, always end up with the amber glass. At first I was disappointed, but I have learned to love it.

yeah i really like the iso glass so much broader profile. but its mostly for my dome... speaking of which.:)
