So, my wife and I just moved out to the country to live and raise our new baby (she's due in 11 days now). Finally we have a home all to ourselves, and our landlord is completely okay with us growing on the property. His only rule is it can't be in the house. That's fine with me, since with the MMJ laws here you have to keep it locked away from any kids.

Keeping it locked up outside leads us to our carport that's attached to the end of the house. Its got 2 walls, and the side of the house is makes up most of the third. Rough dimensions are 10' 8" wide, 23' 6" long, and 7' 2" high. We'll have to wall in the end, and insulate the walls and roof. We're gonna have to replace the door, as its flimsy enough to break down with a single kick. Lol. There's a hole in the back wall where a window might have been once. I'm gonna have to board that up too.

My main question is: Am I going to want to JUST use panda film AS the ceiling, or should I throw plywood up there first, and then white paint? My thought is that I would want to periodically check the inside of the roof for mold and mildew issues, and having just the panda film would make that easily accessible...

I have 18 full sheets of plywood, but I'm thinking I'll need some of those to cover the cement floor (pallets with insulation inside, plywood on top). I can use the rest to cover the ceiling, but that's A LOT of work, and if I'm gonna want to check the inside anyways, I don't know if its worth it...

Opinions? Ideas?

Why start with less space when I know I'm going to want to expand? Between our equipment and our partner's, we've got about 5-6kw to throw in there to start, but I want to end up with 4 or 5 times that, eventually....

As soon as. Its boxed in and secure, we'll be throwing a couple 4x4 tents in there, just to get started. But we want this space, plus once this is finished, we'll be buying a 40' storage container and throwing 30kw in there, too...

im saying frame out a room inside the size of the whole structure. but do as you wish jsut tryin to help

yo tank thats a nice size space u have there if it was me i would put the plywood up n paint. it will look alot cleaner n u can put hinges on the ends if u want 2 keep an eye out 4 mold

Did you even read my whole post and the question?? Lol. I AM framing out the whole room.

My question is "should I use panda film or plywood for the ceiling?" Maybe if your post gave insight on THAT question, it would actually help...

Philly, my response wasn't directed towards you. You actually had an awesome idea! I think that'll probably be a good option to explore...

Yeah. Congrats on the Baby and the move to the country!

I agree with Philly. better paint (or seal) the wood to avoid mold.

show us your room when you build! :)

For sure, Mogrow. I'll have pics up as soon as we can get internet service set up. Right now I'm on my phone with 2g service. Haha. We're WAY out in the boonies here. But at least I've got a beautiful view of Steven's Pass from my back yard!

Thanks Ken. Yea, I think we're just gonna go with sealing up the ceiling with plywood.

I'm really pissed right now though. I found out the 8x4 plywood sheets I bought 2 months ago aren't actually 8 feet long! They're 7'4"!!! Gaarhhhg!!!

Oh well. They'll still work. I'll just need to make adjustments to the plans, that's all.

Ok, that's a bit more clear of an answer. Lol. I think the overwhelming consensus would be to do plywood over the ceiling.

Well, I'm hoping to borrow some tools tomorrow so we can get some stuff done the next day. I've somehow lost damn near every single one of my tools, so I have to either buy or borrow everything I need to build this thing... lol I think I have 2 pairs of needle nose pliers, a drill, and 2 phillips screwdrivers... lol

I got my 4x4 tent set up tonight, with our 10 Afgooey girls set up in my tiny little 1'x3' flood and drain table. We. Got the thing at a yard sale for $20, along with a small square hood and 95w flouro bulb. Best deal EVER!!!

Tomorrow, I'll pick up a 3x3x5 tent from our partner, along with 4 ready to flower girls (a Maui and 3 tragic winter girls, all in soil since that's his forté). The small flood table will probably go in the little tent, and the. 4 ready to flower girls will be in the bigger tent...

Congrats on the new addition to the family!

Since I don't really have a clear mental picture of your space, my two cents would be to try to design your modifications to be as flexible and modular as possible, so you can rearrange your spaces, and easily move them to another location- like next to the 40'- more easily. When I've done this, I've always thanked myself later- and when I didn't, it was a lot more work and coin.

So, it's been forever since I've been able to get on here and post. I've got a few pics of the shed i ve been working in...

Just pulled out the second harvest, and its looking to be around 2.5-3 pounds... I'm excited to get a bunch of new upgrades in here.

I started out with a 16x10 flower room, and a 8x10 veg room, but I decided I needed a space. For spare equipment and a dark room for the reservoirs. So I put in a second wall, making a 10x10 flower room and a 10x6 equipment room. I HAD 4kw of HPS in there, but I've had two ballasts go tits up on me in the past two months. I'm tired of buying this used crap with no warantee. I'm just gonna pony up and hope my friend at the hydro store gives me a good discount for dropping another grand or two in the store... I'm gonna get 2 more air cooled hoods, and put 6kw in there for the next round. I've gotta get an 8" and 10" fan to ventilate the hoods, along with 3 ice-boxes to keep the hoods cooler... eventually I want to have 9 hoods. In there with a 1k in each... I'm gonna put the hoods on a frame attached to a winch so I can raise and lower the hoods all at the same time. After this weekend, I'm gonna do a lot of remodeling and revamping of the room to get it prepped for being a sealed room. I'll have it all ready for when I can afford to get a co2 set-up...
