All plants typically start showing fall colors near the end as they’re using up the nutrients. If you flush, you take out all nutrients from the soil and they start taking nutrients out of the leaves faster. If you don’t flush, it’ll still happen, but more slowly since there’s still nutrients...

Unless your medium is out of whack, there’s no reason to flush. It’s broscience that it helps “finish” the plant.
