Yup, if you are using the right type of system I do believe you can. Tray systems I think will work with soil, but the type I run will not. Check out this link...tray type is second...I use the 3rd option (to me option 1 and 3 are basically the same...hence why I previously said 2 types not 3)...

Time for an update...been a few days. So that valve was a total bust :( I ended up sending it back and simply drilling out the hole on my origional valve and it seems to be working better now :) Fills the system in about 15 minutes give or take. I've also cut the room down to actually 6 sites...
