    It depends on the size and maker of the tent, but Id say most tents your size use the 16mm(5/8") diameter rods. 1/2" pvc sounds really small, depending on the type and weight of the lights you'll be hanging you'd need maybe at least 1 1/2" pvc.     Sounds pretty cool to me. If you do try using a radio in your grow room, post your results. I've even heard of a distillery playing Mozart to aging sake barrels; it was said to improve the quality.
