Thats a good idea, i have the same stuff in the backyard mixed with old soil, rock dust, some EWC ! I'll add some perlite to it too, gonna hit eco & moto bout adding bio-media balance to the soil

BBM helps to de-compact media by increasing the ORAC so preventing the plant induced free radical ions accumulating on the media particles, this being a primary reason for compaction. As we gather more ions on to the clays etc, we change them so they begin to repel like ions, this tips the media and where we had negative clays repelling each other, we sometimes get unlike clays, these attract and so drive out air pores and kill of oxygen breathing microbes, this swings pH as only anaerobic bacteria can survive, they secrete bio film which increases the base pH and adds to the problems growing.
Allowing cowpat to dry desiccates the organisms that mineralise the organic matter and so again it fails. It should always be kept at 40-50% moist, not easy in high heat.
In areas of high compaction, use BBM with warm water or with fungal teas to increase Oxygen and access to nutrients. BBM buffers pH.

I am loving this thread. I also live in the forest and love to put local forest product into my holes. Dirt from under where mushrooms grow, insect poop from decaying tress, tree compost that is 25-30 years breaking down naturally, little pockets of forest top soil years in the making...somehow the thought of growing my personal smoke from my own unique forest blend of organics is exciting.
@GrowingGreen have you made home made bio char? Easy, great way to use small diameter branches from the forest and incorporate nutrient charged charcoal into your soil...good stuff!
Have fun!

yo I got some new bits for you buddy, help with those outdoor bugs. I have some new Bt-K the S13-3 variant so the super caterpillar killer :-) Just finished testing it here and its had really good impacts on the cabbages etc, we didnt bother netting a heap to see what happened using a combined soil drench of mixed nematodes and a foliar of Bt-K. We had a few holes, but we are in a bloody good state mate, there have been serious numbers of moths and butterflies this year and we have a harvest no sweat and no nets :-)
