Photoperiods need dark. Autos, with their set life cycle, will do it all regardless of dark cycle. I have 4 autos going 24/7 as we speak and all are extremely healthy and filled with bud sites. Can only fit two plants in a 3x3 and the canopy takes up most of the tent. I will give them a flush when there's a week left then darkness for about 3 days then harvest. That's the only darkness I give my girls and I'm quite happy with their growth, bud and trichome production.

It's extremely difficult to get a stable cross between ruderalis and photoperiod plants, If the breeder doesnt get the genetics homozygous there will still be variable traits expressed in the offspring. For example out of 10 seeds you might get 7 that will autoflower and 3 that are photoperiod.
