Hi everyone.

This is my first grow.

- Indoors tent / 465W full spectrum LED's / 4 x White Widow feminized plants (not clones, different mothers)
- gradually switched to flowering light scheme (12/12) from the 12th to the 18th November 2022
- the first flowering white pistils started coming out at around the 24th November, which puts us today roughly at the end of flowering week 7

I don't have a microscope to be able to look closely (a must for my next grow).

But I took pictures of the most ripe flowers at the top of the canopy.

Are these useful for anyone to maybe advise if harvest should be coming soon?

From what I can see with my bare (47 year old...) eyes, the trichomes seem to be white and milky, though the pistils are probably around 50% amber and 50% white.

Should I harvest the top flowers this weekend? Or maybe wait for the next? (can only do it on weekends)

Thanks!

Toscano,
The plants look great! The experienced growers say observe the trichomes closet to the bud, the trichomes on the calyx. If you do have a week or so go and buy a simple magnifying glass. Worry about something better later. I found it interesting watching the trichomes change color. One fellow on the forum had a nice-looking magnifier that connected directly to a phone/PC/iPad though a USB. Great looking pics. All cloudy closest to the flower or maybe allow some of the cloudy trichomes to turn amber. I'm sure a member will fill that in for you.

I'd say you did a nice job for your first grow.

Lots of white pistils, so you aren’t quite there yet. Get a magnifier or loupe and start checking trichome colors

Thanks.
It's the watering that I'm never really sure of... too much? too little? too sparse? too frequent?
Well, we're nearing the end and no big harm is done, so... probably wasn't that far off.
Cheers!

Yeah, one of the plants is still projecting new white pistils, but most are getting "quieter" now.

Definitely have to get some kind of magnifying glass.

Thanks!

I would flush it out and plan to chop in 7 to 10 days, your trichome is milky but you may want a bit of amber, an early chop will go to your head, if you want a body high you need a bit of amber trichome, me I chop when my trichome is around 20 percent amber.

I use one off Amazon that was about 30 bucks can connect to your computer or you use the Wi-Fi from the microscope to direct image to your phone no cords, you can see it to the right in the first picture it’s about 4.5” long, I used a stand to put the camera on, other people had other suggestions as well to stabilize the camera for good clear pictures of the trichromes, also this microscope goes to about 1,000x you will barely need 50x at most, I keep mine at minimum and then just barely focus in, also has adjustable LED’s on the end of it so you can adjust it to help you get a clearer look at those trichs

That's great!
Thanks, I'll look around. For that kind of price, it's a no brainer.
