I’d stay with 3-4 gallons 4 is better but with that said I’ve grown some nice girls in 3 gallons fabric pots I’ll just wrap the outside a few time with plastic wrap so the outside don’t dry up to fast since I how organic it still always for air pruning the roots and the stay moist longer with organic soil is important.

With synthetics in a coco based substrate u can grow some big girls in 1.5 gallons fabric pots pots. I switched over to organic and while I don’t get the same yields in small pots if I go to 5 gallons man the work Is easy and i haven’t used ph pen I 6 years. I tossed it actually if u need instant gratification the organic is not for you, but if u learn to read the plant and listen to her u will never have a a issue and no flushing just let her ripen and the smoke is much more terpy and all around just better. All my tents I made them into full living soil beds thankfully I have a garage and a big shed cause the top dressing can really smell awful for a few days but I’ll just add LAB and that polices the microbes and kills all bad odors

I’m a old grower bud been at it since the 80s
So I kinda know most of what you said
I just have a abscess & am in the uk
So it was easy for me to misread especially with the abscess & uk selling pots in liters.
Organics is really my thing
Coir not so much nowadays as it’s either expensive or needs washing & being disabled its easier for me to grow in soil.
I’ve tried the synthetic thing but in the end I really just prefer using Gano. It’s so simple. I don’t have to measure out. Don’t have to worry about trying to measure millimetres with bleary eyes first thing in the morning.

I agree organic is just more natural and easier if you are not trendy and buy all these salt based nutes. I make my own compost and worm bins indoor I do like to mix 50/50 living soil with some pro mix HP it still has the buffer at the rhizospere bit yet is lighter and easier for the roots to fill out. With that said. I do have to a worm castings to my coco when I do that. I’m on year 8 of using the same soil and it get better every grow. I dove head first into KNF and JADAM. The easiest and imo best fertilizer is my ferments I’ll pick dandelion and nettle and I grow comfrey and I’ll add them in a 5 gallon bucket about 2/3 full I’ll add brown sugar or even white sugar and cover it up then I’ll put a garbage bag on top of the plant material and fill the bag with water to make osmotic pressure and after a week or 2 I’ll empty the water and the liquid in the bottom of bucket is liquid gold after that I’ll add water to the fermentation and that will ferment and I water it down till it looks like a weak cup of tea and it make the plants so healthy and they grow so vigorously I’ll use the ferment s and lactic acid bacteria from rice wash water and fermented with milk it make a cheese that I add to compost and feed to my chickens the labs and amd molasses a feed all they flower I cut all nutes around week 7 of flower so they get that fade

With soil that has alot of microbes and is healthy it a buffer I’ve never owned a ph pen there was no need but I was giving a bunch of the water test strips so just for shits and giggles I’ll test the water after I add all ferments and labs and it is acidic if anything and cannabis like acidic soil better than high ph, again with a good living soil it don’t matter the most I do is fill a few 5 gallon bucket the night before and let them off gas overnight. But here a pro tip for you if u stick your hand and arm I. 5 gallon bucket of fresh hose water and stir it around for 60-90 second your skin will absorb most chlorine and chloride in you city water. Just like when u leave a swimming pool and u can smell the chlorine o. Your body.

When i did soil i did 4 plants the pot size fills the room nice i had those paint buckets 20kg and you can leave the plants alone for a week.

But you can do more plants in smaller pots they just need more watering

If u used 60% tap water and rest bottle it will give the plant some calcium and other minerals in the tap water. I’m in NJ so I’m very lucky that my tap water is delicious and is not hard water. The worst I’ve seen was when I. Transplant and about 3-4 days later I’ll get some leaf twist. That’s cause the soil I used in solo cups was different and when roots worked into the living soil the ph was same and they get twisted for a week or so. No need to worry. Just keep em moist and and the microbes with just the ph. Also same thing when my ferments are to fresh and need a week or 2 more of breaking down the the liquid compost. Then I notice some issues with growth. But like I said a week or 2 and all new growth is lush and vigorous growth

It's very simple, root size limits plamt size. The bigger the pot and more veg time the bigger the plant. ALSO you will water the bigger pot less, a smaller pot in late flower can be rough to keep up with

You can, top it a few times, pruning off the small stems that lag behind. 4 to 6 stems fighting for the alfa spot is what i usually aim for.
