this is my second attempt at growing outdoors (the first one was years ago and failed due to not having a solid spot). I have 5 plants total. 3 clones, blue dream, ghost og and gdp. I also have 2 started from seeds i got from an eighth of amazing forum cut girl scout cookies about 2 years ago. The seeds were germinated in water and then planted in solo cups with seed starter mix once they cracked open. the first pic is the 2 gsc seedlings at 10 days old when i transplanted them in 1 gallon pots of happy frog soil. the second pic is of the 2 clones i had just brought back from the dispensary and transplanted in 1 gallon pots of happy frog from left to right they are blue dream and ghost og.

finally here are the most updated pictures as of 5/30, the 2 girl scout cookies are both 31 days from seed and i will be transplanting them to 7 gallon fabric pots tomorrow(i still dont know if they are females or not) the blue dream and ghost og clones are 19 days old since planted from clone and the gdp is 10 days old from clone. so far the only nutes i have used is fox farms grow big and big bloom fed twice and mykos root innoculant for transplanting. I am thinking of topping the plants soon but im not sure i am very open to feedback and tips as i am very new to growing so if anyone has any questions or suggestions any help would awesome.

Will seven gallon pots be their final size?
Before topping, you may want to read up on super cropping, a method of bending over tops instead of cutting off. I used it last year, the plant recovers faster and the shorter stems take notice that the dominant stem has been injured and race to become dominant.
Depending on how big you want these to grow would dictate when to top. I topped at the standard 3 or 4 node. Topping creates a " y" at the branch tops. Those " y" s are easy to split if the branches become laden with bud. Super cropping avoids this problem because the bent top recovers, there is no " y " .

Yo, I need to update my own post, but I'm also growing outdoors - in S. California, and in fabric pots - 10g.

After some research, I decided to go with the advice at Weed Schooling on YouTube summarized here:
Once my plants reached 18in, I inserted a 4ft bamboo pole at 45 degrees about 3-4in from the stem, and I've trained the plant to grow at 45 degrees, with the pole pointing North, while pulling the side branches out to maximize sun and strengthen the branches. My plants are up to 3ft, but at 45 degrees. FWIW the two plants that have responded best to this process are Blue Dream and Blue Zkittles.

Keep in mimd the bending and training method in the video is ideal for untopped plants from seed. Clones don't have the characteristic christmas tree shape and won't respond nearly as well as plants from seeds.

Interesting about the seed distinction. It's working pretty well, in terms of maximizing my 8h window, but I don't want to deal with sex-sorting and seeds are pretty expensive here in LA.

I have run into a problem with pests.. i think its spider mites and fungus gnats mainly (but im not sure) cause i saw a couple tiny spider strings on the plant. I also have seen ants crawling around on top of the soil and have a few insect bites here and there. On this pic u can see the bottom left leave has a bite. If anyone knows what this is and how to remedy it please let me know. Also thank you arroyo flush for the informational video on the training technique, i am definately going to try that method out on at least one of my plants, i want to do it on the blue dream but its from a clone.

Hey everyone, this is an update as of 6/5/17 the plants are doin great! The 2 girl scout cookies seedlings, about 37 days since germination (first 2 pics) are getting big now. I still dont know if either is a female or not but one certainly looks more like a female than the other. I am still trying to decide how i want to train them so any suggestions would be awesome. The ghost og clone and gdp clone ( third and fourth pic) were both topped yesterday they are the slowest growing of my plants, im guessing cause of the genetics but not sure. My blue dream clone ( final two pictures first is before lst second is about 18 hours later) is growing very well and is really starting to take off, the pictu re is shown 1 day after lst training. I am very pleased with the effects of lst training less than 24 hours after being performed the plant is already responding great.

You'll have to water 2x a day by the beginning of outdoor flower, which is still aways off. Bigger pots just my opinion.

dboy510,

By your choice in plants I'm guessing you're up in my neck of the woods (or at least a similar zone in Cali). All your plants are common to our outdoor crops, especially the Blue Dream and GDP. The person who in an earlier post said that clones don't supercrop well, by my experience, is misinformed. I've bent Blue Dream clones and they love it, while my Royal Nepal Kush clones were so resistant to it they started pulling their roots up when I tied their tops down. I think it's more likely that the ability to supercrop depends more on the breed than how it's started.

If you've never grown BD before you're in for a treat, super potent, great medicine. Yours is very tight and stout unlike the 8'-10' plants I grew last year. My only gripe was how sparse and small the flowers were (very landrace sativa looking) compared to the super dense Gorilla Glue we grew beside them. It doesnt look like you're going to have that problem. Cheers to your mad skills and small pots keeping it stout. Imho, you have some good looking plants and you've done a nice job on the ones you've supercropped.

Keep Cali green

Here's a pic of one of my supercropped Orange Creamsicles clones in a 100 gal cloth pot at 56 days. They are desirable to dispensaries/co-ops in my area due to their taste, very Orange Cookies with a vanilla exhale, and their yeilds are extremely heavy. Just a suggest for your garden next year seeing that you would probably do well with them judging by the look of your current plants.
