Here they are, the surviving five.
Holders of the auto mango f4 seeds.
It took me longer than expected to break down one plant, so I'm reporting on it and leaving the remaining for future posts.
My wife might help with breaking down the rest tomorrow, so that should speed things up.
Here she is, CM#1
The net result of this first plant are these underdeveloped and fragile seeds.
I don't expect any to be viable.
A quick review on the 2018 grow season yielded only three plants that seem to have yielded good f4 generation seed.
There are two distinct growth structure.
Long and short stem.
The short stem plants grew like big clubs of flower, but the tight massing made them more subject to brown mold.
The long stem at first looked sparse, but once the flowers grew to full size there didn't seem to be much difference in yield.
Bud structure is rather "open" but this might be a result of being fully seeded.
I will grow them next summer with only select pollination and see if the buds improve.
As to mold resistance, many plants got tossed, but other than slight late season stem rot, (seen at many stem junctions) I only lost a few buds to brown mold in the surviving four plants.
I count the results as four plants suspecting that if I shake that CM#1 down for all its seeds, there will likely be enough viable to get some plants to grow.
