Hey everyone I have a question about containers, I recently had a brainstorm about how to give myself some more room to grow for the 1 gallon challenge in my 1x3x3 area. My big thought was to use a two gallon pot half full. This would give me a little more head space. I could make a video tutorial on how I did it as evidence that I wasn’t exceeding the one gallon volume limit. My idea was to fill a gallon pot with soil and dump it into the two gallon pot and trim off the excess unfilled portion of the two gallon pot. My plan is to scrog out the entire 1x3 area and with only 25 inches between the top of a one gallon pot and the bottom of my light, using a cut down two gallon pot would give me a few extra inches of headspace. Heading out to the grow shop to grab some earthworm castings, and a two gallon pot. I’ll check in later today and see if there’s any responses.

I may be over complicating it, but post the dimensions. Top diameter, bottom diameter and height. All taken after you cut your bucket to final size. We can do the math.

With the 4.5L allowance you probably won't even need to chop too much off. My 2g nursery pots are only 5.7L

I don’t see a problem with that, basically you’re looking for a wider pot vs a taller pot. As long as everyone feels that’s fair (I do) I don’t see a problem with it!

I think I shared mine already, I think if I just cut off the top lip I should be good right?

I considered going low profile for my pot as that is my preference usually for big plants but decided on the high profile nursery pot for this. I think a taller container will force me out of my comfort zone re: watering practices and rethink things. I like it!

I’ve been looking for a 1 gallon sub irrigated pot. I’ve found several smaller but not a 2 gallon. Think im going to have to make one out of a couple buckets.

Hell yeah, would be awesome for a grow like this as well to reduce frequency of watering

Most I’ll be able to do is water once a day so hopefully that’ll be enough in late flower, atm I’m at once every 2.5-3 days

I’m gone 12-14 hours a day. So I will need something with some back up water. I am going to try and do a all organic Korean natural farming. I plan on using compost teas, fermented plant juice, water soluble calcium, and worm castings. It will be really interesting to see if I can get it all the way. I feel like I could if I went from clone and flipped it super fast. It will be interesting starting from seed.

I already have my watering calculations worked out. Yes, I'm a grow geek. As small as these pots are my spray bottle will suffice for quite awhile.

I will be doing an organic grow. Water only week 1-4 and top dress for the rest of the run. Already have a culture growing for my innoculant. I haven't grown "small" in a long time. Rattling my feeble old stoner brain to remember techniques I haven't used in.....hmmm what year is this again?

Just cut down my second of three one gallon autoflowers tonight. Got one more left and then I’ll be prepared to set up my area for this challenge. This is starting to get exciting. Still not quite sure as to what I’m growing. My normal yield on a one gallon is usually 1.25 ounces of dried flower. This is with organic dry amendment soil. The most recent batch of one gallons was organic bottled nutrients in a 3 part: coco, perlite, earthworm castings soil. These plants are still growing or hanging out to dry I’m hoping that my average went up. Guy at the grow shop was suggesting the roots organic liquid nutrients and teas. If I don’t see a substantial difference between the dry vs wet organic runs I might give it a shot.

I’m the same it’s about 14.5-15 hours per day once i walk out the door for work, we’ll see how it goes, if I need to the most I’d probably do is add a bit extra water to the saucer for it to uptake luckily with this test plant I’ll see what I’m in for lol

So do we have a start date set in stone, yet? Sorry to keep asking. The only internet access I have at the moment is super slow and I can't afford the time to sift through all the posts.

I'm chompin' at the bit to get started, though. I'm going to pop a few seeds and grow a few more than just one. Can't just grow one plant it's against my nature

Hard enough going from growing acres of plants to just a few, as it is.

Being stuck in bed and feeling like shit all the time isn't helping my sanity, either. I really need this project I think it will be good for my overall health.

Not quite but we’re close! I’m thinking probably about august 10th so not this weekend but the following Saturday, for drop date, I’ll have to go through and try to make sure each person who wants to join is aware of the drop date, then I can set the rest of the dates

I was just looking at some of these unopened seed packs I've got. Some are seeds I've had for years, just never had time to check 'em out. I've got 4 packs I got from my friends Brothers Grimm - Cinderella 99, Rosetta Stone XX, Ocifer, and Apollo. Then I have several packs I got a few years back from Colorado Sativas, one I'm curious to try called "Zamaldelica" I've heard good things about.

Zamaldelica would probably be pretty hardcore to do in one gallon. Brother’s Grimm seeds are vigorous and easy in my experience.
