I’m planning to try one myself! Got the air stones gotta figure out a drain idea for water replacements but I’ll be using a 5 gallon bucket

Any bulkhead fitting should work, just depends on what fitting style you need depending on how you want to drain.

You could drain them individually or have them all drain to 1 container and then pump out from the container into something more portable, unless you have a sink or something near by to drain to.

Sump pump outside the tent I can go into, would probably just have the bucket drain with a plug into a shorter trey, I’d start with 1 just to see how I like it before I went to far into it, only thing I need is a bucket and top with a 4” or 6” net cup I’ll find 2 fittings and a piece of tubing to make the level indicator with

Then just find some bulkhead plug I can just pull out when it’s time to drain it for the change out

Drill 2 holes for the air stone airlines fill er up and let er rip

Wonder how many I’ll kill

Mine will be here tomorrow to get the reversed plant in a air stagnant tent lol

This cman x okie was topped and followed the exact timelines we are using for the challenge she’s 40 days from flip now

The timelines were based off her exactly

Except she was put in a 1/2 gallon pot instead of a gallon

Sounds like a good plan

They make bulkhead fittings with shut off valves on them.

I was going to get that $15 circulator, find a pump, and make a RDWC but maybe I'll just do air stones and see how it goes.
Your "Wonder how many I'll kill" comment made me rethink my decision, hydro may not be for me and don't want to spend more money then I need to if it doesn't work out for me.
I already have a 4 outlet air pump and could just use a cat liter buckets if I really wanted to keep it cheap.
So thanks for that comment

Call me crazy....everyone does lol....I've had this idea for a long time for making a Vertical NFT-like system. It's a simple idea and a square bucket would be the right dimensions. So you know those aetator/recirculator things they use in aquariums? Attach one on either side of a square bucket, positioned so it would flow from the level of the net pot down the roots and recirculate. Trying to get a lid to fit always kinda stumps me. Maybe one of you crafty DIYers can figure it out. Or simply say what are you crazy and I can finally move on to a different brain worm.

Just my opinion for what it is worth, but I think it's way overpriced. I've never noticed a difference vs other quality myco products. If your plant is hanging on by a thread it fixes things, but so does recharge and teas etc... I don't see the value

I get what you're sayin. I grew NFT for a long time, still do whenever I get the urge to. I made my own homemade channels out of plywood and 8 mil plastic sheets to line it. Actually worked out very well. I made my own because I couldn't find any pre-made that fit my specifications and they charge way too much money for them. So I took a couple sheets of 3/4 inch plywood and built em into 6 channels each 8 feet long, approximately 8 inches wide and 6 inches deep, each channel with 6, 6 inch holes for net pots, for a total of 36 plants. It wasn't easy to build out of plywood, but I'm sort of a hillbilly master craftsman like that

Then I just lined them with 8 mil black plastic sheeting, used some silicone caulking to glue it to the sides and bottom of the channels, so that it can be removed and replaced as needed. All in all, the cost of the channels only added up to like 2 sheets of plywood, a 20 dollar roll of plastic, a 6 inch hole saw, a tube of silicone caulking, and some wood screws.

At any rate. I think the problem with your idea may be, first, keeping an even film of water, and second, water flowing too fast. But there's always a way. Just gotta do some trial and error experimentation. I'm a huge fan of taking the road less travelled. Let me know if you ever figure this out!

Great white on amazon is 15 bucks for an oz whereas Mykos WP on amazon is 20 bucks for 12 oz.

I'd go with the Mykos WP. It's just as good if not better than GW.

But it's also really easy to make your own -

Buy one bag of Mykos and just use it to reproduce more

I wanted to do this so bad when I was getting great white (I know it works form testimonials here) but the other brand was way more quantity for your buck! I failed on the open coms and asking here this was the answer I would have wanted had I asked! lol! Do you have any pointers or a link for someone who wants to make their own? Or should I just go down the rabbit hole? : ) thanks Deadstill!

That video is pretty spot on as far as making your own. I did it just like that except instead of harvesting my own starter, I used like 2 tablespoons of Mykos. Other than that just do what he did, takes like 3 months or so but you'll have so much mycorrhizae you'll probably be dumping some in your garden or something

As far as how long it lasts mostly depends on how you store it. I keep mine in a closet completely dark and sealed and stored at pretty much room temperature ~70 degrees. Have had a bucket for over a year now still good to go.

there was also a solo cup challenge, I think the 1 gallon gives a bit more freedom, the solos were fun to watch but a lot of us don’t have time to water multiple times a day, figured make it easy

Gotta figure out how we want it though to level the playing field

All entries must be the same so we gotta figure out the rules.

1: must be in a 1 gallon pot
2: must be (either seed or clone will determine which by consensus)
3: Must be soil / or peat based medium (growers choice but no DWC)
4: (considering) all neuts must be organic, but would be hard to enforce, I think most of us are respectable upstanding folks who would want to compete legitimately, and there no real prize here other than bragging rights,
5: have multiple categories best looking plant / frostiest / heaviest yeild etc

Lemme know what else you guys think to keep the challenge fair!

Also NO RULES ARE FINAL this is simply a brainstorming topic to see who’s interested and we can finalize the rules with the full roster of contestants

I'm in, I'm kinda in already as I have 36 autoflower chocolopes in 1 gallon pots...
There still only 10 days old so I will pick the strongest and submit her although... I do have a freak show currently in early vedge stage and a spare AC infinity 1 gallon pots so I may just use her...
Are we allowed to submit plants already growing or do we all have to start at the same time.
