It is good when ripe. I have a stand of it out back. And a single young plant up close to the house.Visiting and real estate search, realtor had donkeys they rescued standing around us around a tree I ewasnt familiar with. I asked why the donkeys were so up close. The answer; they wanted us to pick paw paw. I did so and they loved them. Realtor asked if I ever had any. Of cords no. Try one was the answer. Totally surprised! Awesome!

My grandparents used to live in Benton Harbor and Watervliet , Michigan. Would take us fishing on pawpaw Lake in the early 60s! We were barely old enough to hold a 10 foot cane pole!I don't have a lot of them but I have a lot of Protographium marcellus because I have their only host here on my property, the Pawpaw tree.View attachment 2678611View attachment 2678612
I never saw one until I lived in Va. Then when we bought this place I was looking at Walnut trees out back when I noticed the stand not far from them then I found the young up here. Something must have shit out a seed while sitting in the Hickory up here since it's right at it's base. These butterfly caterpillars ravage the leaves every year, must be thousands of them.My grandparents used to live in Benton Harbor and Watervliet , Michigan. Yes. Jam. I haven't seen any Jelly yet but I guess it's done too.Have u heard of anyone making jelly or jam from them.?
Never heard of paw paws until this thread. Never had dorian because the smell won't let me within 10 feet of it.At a friends wedding they made ice cream out of paw paws. They have a few on the farm. Definitely not native around here. Was talking to a friend yesterday, he’s gonna make wine out of some. His friend froze a bunch in Delaware. Never had any, hear they are good. Consistency of Dorian, without the smell. For the record I love Dorian.
It's one of only a handful of indigenous fruit trees in No. America. They have a unique flavor. Some say like Mango and Banana but I don't know. I love Mango. Hard to describe.Never heard of paw paws until this thread. Never had dorian because the smell won't let me within 10 feet of it.
That almost sounds Lorena Bobbit'ish if you read a lot into it.My wife said,” I wrapped your thing up and put it in the refrigerator.” She said she didn’t want it picking up refrigerator smells.
They were 1 month 3 days old from seed in dirt I have 15 gallon grow pots for them outdoors I have 5 plants and not much space do they get very bigFor outdoors? I will slowly acclimate them for about 7days from in to outdoors several hrs a day. Is your area for sunrise/sunset times more than 14hrs? Im in Oregon i'm at about 15hrs now and mine are in 15gal pots full time. They were about 1month old when i transplanted to the large pots outside.
Not that big…They were 1 month 3 days old from seed in dirt I have 15 gallon grow pots for them outdoors I have 5 plants and not much space do they get very big
Those branches would have been cut off eventually anyway.A little late for the week, but here’s Sunday’s haircut… I did have a few training phopah’s and broke some branches accidentally. Good thing I have the whole summer to grow em out.
Not the purple diesel daze. It was the 2nd of the branches after topping that broke. It would have been a main stalk, but I have plenty of time to train the other one to spread out a bit. Those branches would have been cut off eventually anyway.
Damn "Love hurts!"A little late for the week, but here’s Sunday’s haircut… I did have a few training phopah’s and broke some branches accidentally. Good thing I have the whole summer to grow em out.
