3k 15'x9' (eventually 6k) new build log

Setting up a new Prop 215 compliant grow.. Right now the gear I will be using is..

2 x 1k Mag XXXL 8"
2 x Global greenhouse 1000w ballasts
1 x 600W Lumatek
1 x 400W Lumatek
2 x 10" maxfan
1 x CanFilter 100


Eventually im going to get another 2 1000W's when the budget will allow. So the plan is not totally finalized yet, but im building the room to either accommodate a sealed room setup or a intake/exhaust. I will most likely go wiht intake/exhaust for a while since its what I know best.

For now i will be using 1 of the 10" maxfans for the filer/exhaust and one will be split into 2 8"'s to cool the lights. Im going to need some sort of a/c this summer, and a minisplit is not really a possibility for me since I dont know any installers. Soon as i find one though im going to consider it.

The plan for a/c right now is get a 18-24k btu window unit, that I will use to cool the lung room you see in the first picutre. Air from that room will be pulled into the room to cool it. Air will come directly from outside into the lighting and go directly outside.

I will be growing in 10 gallon smartpots with roots organic/perlite, and will be doing 1/2 the room on fox farm nutes and the other half on bio canna. Im always open to anyones input on how to best set this up for cooling etc.. more pics to come later this week.

What you cant see in these pictures is I doubled up the rigid foam insulation in the walls. It was supposed to be 1.5 inch foam board but it was really only 1" thick. So i did 2 layers everywhere, sandwiched between 5/8" drywall , hopefully to cut back on most of the sound of fans.

Heres some pic updates for anyone watching.. Got a 18k btu window ac.. Soon as these bigger pre98 bubba's recover from some transplant shock ill start flower. They were moved into 10 gallon smart pots under the 2xXXXL's on the other side i have 3 pre 98bk's under a 600.

Also to anyone looking into global greenhouse ballasts. These fucking things rock, running them @ 240v they are totaly silent and not even 1/2 as hot as my 600 or 400 lumatek. No problems with them blowing bulbs and im running eye hort super hps.

Very nice construction work and the girls look nice and green... Great job and good info to know on the greenhouse ballasts... Do you know if their 1000W at 120v is just as cool? :wondering

No idea but that was something I was wondering for sure. I dont have the 120 cables for them right now or id try it out. I have heard that 240 runs cooler then 120 but this is a major difference. When i pick up 2 more of these ill be sure to get a 120 cable to test and see.

A couple things that will help you I see is you have all that room, but those plants are smashed together. Spread them out and stake them off with bamboo and twist ties.

If you built that room and did all the wiring I think you could do a mini split yourself. Study up on some HVAC forums. They comes pre-charger for like 25ft line set with easy connects and all you need is a vac to suck out the line that you can get for $100. I beat their some videos on the net. Easier then you think

Yeah boss spread em out and get some light down in there. It looks like they would love it, just do some heavy LST. Low stress training.

sunshine: These pics I took were right when i moved all the plants in, since then they have been spread out a bit and started flowering yesterday. As for minisplit I have been doing a bunch of reading on them, I think i may have someone that can install one for me. For sure before i move up to 6k im going to have to get one installed.

joe: For this test run this is all the lighting im gunna do. Eventually its going to be 6 x 1k mag xxxl's when I get the minisplit.

purkle: ive never been one to lst much (cept for moms), but I do supercrop like crazy which is what made this bubba branch out so much. These girls just got so big cause I lagged on building this room so they went a little crazy in my veg room. Usually I dont start flower when they are 6+ feet high.
