I started a plant roughly 4 weeks ago, my first plant. It was growing really fast and now its sort of petered out. It's roughly 3in tall, which seems short for how long has past. I'm using foxfarms potting soil which seems to dry out more than I understood it was supposed to. The first set of true leaves look like they are losing some color, the picture I posted doesnt do it justice as it doesn't look like the leaves are a lighter green at the ends but I assure you they are. The plant is setup in a way that it gets an hour or 2 of direct sunlight and then its in shaded lighting the rest of the day. I did this bc the first plant I tried to grow died bc of how hot it is/was here in Southern California. Maybe its not getting enough sunlight now?

PS. I also just watered it in this image, had been a few days.

Personally even for outdoor plants, I start my seedlings under a light, so I think it may need more light. That and letting the soil pretty much completely dry out. Don't give up on it tho!

Let her soil dry out good and light. She is in a rooting phase. Don’t overwater, let her dry out well before watering. Encourage those roots to seek. Looks good 👌
How long should i let the soil stay dry for? I typically have been letting it get dry and then once dry watering out of fear of dehydrating it in this god awful heat we were having.

I personally let them get bone dry and then soak the soil, so once they are dry, soak em!
well idk what happend I checked it this morning and it was fine, came back this afternoon and something ripped it out of the pot it was in and snapped it in half. I've got a ring camera in the area that i keep it and it didnt pick up any motion. GG's i guess.

Could pick up a cheap tent and light setup and some decent cheapish seeds! Don’t give up gardening 👩‍🌾

if you can recomend something i wouldnt mind. lol my sister said the same thing. I'm in the process of growing a mango tree as well that i started at the same time. I may just go buy some chicken wire and make a cage for it. pretty sure it was a rabbit that got it, we got a bunch here, and there was some kind of dried mucus on the leaves that were left.

Yeah it’s always sad to come back to damaged plants. Chipmunks and rabbits love digging up the roots of my flowers all the time. My veggie garden has chicken wire so I recommend doing that. Unfortunately my setup (as pictured) is very diy, I’m not really growing to maximize grows, more for fun so I can’t really help you as far as a tent. And I threw out the packaging for my lights 🤦🏼‍♀️. Even when I planned on buying more of the same cuz they’re cheap and work alright. Doy.

But there are good threads online for recommendations and you could also make a post with your given circumstance (space limits, smell restrictions, etc).

nice, and ty

I always like to suggest to buy the things separate. The main reason is because I think the lights in the packaged deals are sub optimal and get replaced anyways.

Quality light rated for flowering in the size tent you’re using.
Get the tent that is 80” tall of the brand you choose and avoid the shorter ones if you have the headroom to work with.
6” inline fan
WiFi controller

That’s all you need for a tent setup. Everything else should be the things you already have/use. Extras can be bought along the way if needed to control the tent conditions.

I'll keep this in mind if i go this route. I've got an 8yr old at home and we've been growing various other plants and flowers, such as the mango tree and lavender, California poppy etc. It's going to be a hard sell if i start setting up a grow room in the house lol, which is why i went with outdoor growing. All she knows is that it was an Herb plant lol. I eventually intend to build a green house which this would be done in, but will likely build a chicken wire cage for now. And since im pretty sure it was a rabbit that got the plant it will be useful for the other plants we are growing. I just started this green thumb adventure about 2 months ago picking plants like the lavender that gophers and other variuous ground creatures dont like the smell of. Gophers are really bad out our place, so im sure the cage will be needed at least until those other plants start flowering.

I've got a farely large closet with a bunch of bs stuff in it of mine i may could use if i do happen to grow indoors, so i appreciate the level of information you provided.
