400 or 600w hps light

okay. ive got one th seeds darkstar (PKxmazarisharif) and big buddha blue cheese. theyre looking great, had em bout 4 months. ive lst'd them and kept them two foot tall and bushy as hell. but i have 2 300W soft white cfls. im actually without ventilation and good lighting right now, but hopefully to get ventilation situated soon. but i need a good hps light n ballast, i might be able to make my own light hood, but does anyone know where to get a good 400 or 600W used hps light n ballast, or maybe talk to someone in cali or other place n get one from there. im in NC. but there just lights!
i had world of seeds afghan kush special and advanced SAD s1, but they died of root fungus.

im in the first week of flowering and the darkstar has white hairs like crazy. itll finish early OH! and has anyone EVEr seen or heard of a double sided leaf? cuz my darkstar has one and its been there and still alive. is a double sided leaf uncmommon?

OH! n im in an apartment. haha maintenance came in last week to change my air filter n i hid my plants n all my gear. got through that first round of heavy risk by hiding the blue cheese in a set of brand new tires standin up and hid the darkstar under a table type thing with a blaket over it and put a tv on top of it and made it look original. haha i bet the maintenance dude had no idea he was less than 10ft away from some of the dankest shit on the east coast.

n i feed em straight up peruvian seabird guano and airrate my water for a few hours before i give it to my wifeys.

but can anyone help me with my light question?

Thousands of HPS & MH lights are removed from businesses, parking lots, etc., every week & often the demolition guys end up with them. My partner has access this way & we barter for them or pay a greatly reduced price. A few clones or a couple Hamiltons, for a 1000W flame thrower with reflector & ballast is a deal! Ask around with any construction people you know & you will probably find someone who has lights he or she is willing to part with.

nice to know the darkstar burns bright out here on the beast coast now i have used 1000s 600s 400s and you can pull bumper crops from each now with that being said i prefer 600s imo they have penetration power for half the consumption price of a 1000 and doubles the lumen output of the 400 for a couple pennies more so from my experience and my personnel preference i vote for the 600s also go check out my pics in gallery to see what 600s can do

And on that thought farmerjohn, folks should be checking out their local habitat for humanity type rebuilders centers. those places always have those lights for hella cheap!

If you go with a 600w, check out Ushio bulbs. Their Super HPS is rated at 97000 lumens, highest I've found so far. My equipment will be here in a few days. Quantum 600w dimmable ballast, Magnum XXXL hood, Ushio HPS. I'm gonna check everything with a light meter and Kill-A-Watt. I'll post the results and keep a log of performance. The more info the better I always say. Peace.

thanks u guys. yeah i want to get a 600w hps. theres actually a htgsupply store about two hours from where im at, but i think im going to get a fan and carbon airfilter before i get a 600w hps, but soon after.and ill def take a look at ushio bulbs too! im in the 1st n half weeks of flowering. i should take care of adequate lighting instead of just two 300w cfls, but im kinda stressin for money to go towards equipment. im worried, no terrified at what the smells going to be like, cuz my 08 grow really stunk and i could smell those from easily 50 yrds away, that was outdoor and mid, so im getting a carbon filter first.this time im in my 2br apartment with a 4x8 closet, and dankkk genetics.
but i guess ill post a few pics of my wifeys later. there gorgeous :]
i wana know if a double sided leaf, and still alive is common or not.??

of coarse doubble sided leafs are common there so common that every leaf is a double sided leaf a top and a bottom see double sided muhahahahahahahahahahah muuuuuhahahahahahahaha

400 is so inefficient. Love the Ushio's. They work great with the dimmable lumateks :)
