Obviously an experienced grower will learn to do things their own way, to me, this is a good starting point, you will learn as you go what your plants want and what you can get away with with them. I do agree with using t5's, I was using a MH to veg but switched because of heat and electrical costs.Well, if it was me, I'd run that at 50% and about 24" above for the first week, bump it up to 75% and drop to about 18" for week two, then go 100%. I don't think I'd go any closer than 12".
Even with my t5 very close when they come up they still tend to do that a little bit for me. When I plant a seed in a cup I will leave the soil level down a little bit so after they do that initial stretch I fill in around it with soil and get the cup filled up, (mostly). After that I don't have any real stretching until they hit pre-flower under the HPS.Next time I will probably start out at 100% wattage and see what happens. I do think they got a bit "leggy" and would like to avoid that next time.
Ah! Great idea with the cup. I ended up replanting them yesterday to cover up the extra inches.Even with my t5 very close when they come up they still tend to do that a little bit for me. That's me, I'm not one of these super aggressive "professionals" either though, I just want to grow some killer weed for myself. Definitely going on a pheno hunt though. Recently bought a Turbo Klone, so I know I can get any cuts I take, that's one thing that's gonna help along the way. Good luck to you with your grow, I hope everything goes well for you.
Yes they do.That's the correct way to transplant onetwothree. Bury those leggy stems and they'll become root soon enough.
