I've been catching some videos of Ron Paul speaking and I continue to be impressed with his coherent ideals - helps that I agree with him - and his ability to clearly communicate action plans to put his ideals into policy. Refreshing, compared to the usual non-committal BS.

Here he is speaking in Iowa. Half an hour, but he covers a lot of ground. His stance on drugs in in the last few minutes iirc. Worth the watch:

Here's another television interview:

And this isn't Ron Paul, it's a radio host getting pissed at Mitt Romney for being dismissive and goes on a good tirade and says why he's going to vote Ron Paul now.

Fuck yea Qupee. We are standing on common ground now! There are no Colorado primarys so I can't help get the guy nominated unless I just whack the rest of the field(joke). I voted for Obama last time because well... Palin? But I don't think Obama realized what he was getting into when he was saying what he was going to do. Look at the poor fucker. This four year job aged him 20 years. If the republican nomination is someone other than Dr. Ron Paul, there will be 4 more years of Obama. He will look like Jimmy Carter by then.

ya we'll just forget about that other topic ;-) I can't vote myself, felon, but I may donate. Money's tight though, college has me on a bs bill and I stalled and stalled, now they're garnishing 25% of my take home.

For some reason I had a negative reaction to the name Ron Paul when I first started hearing it in 08. Maybe cause it sounds like RuPaul. :giggle

It borders on disgusting how he's so systematically ignored. The "establishment" trying to eliminate the sane voice, very un-american imho.

Ron Paul sounds like he's got a damn good idea how to go about shrinking the federal government and restoring personal liberties. Cut a trillion in spending first year. Fold the alphabet agencies (fbi, cia, dea, etc) into the military. Bring the troops home and mind our own damn business (he's more worried about the destabilization of our economy than any terrorist). He makes a good argument for a fair tax. Audit the fed. etc. etc.

I have faith he could accomplish some it, too. He may be an outlier but if he got in as a Republican I'd think he'd have a lot of support simply from them towing the party line. And its not like his ideas aren't fundamentally republican. One would hope he could draw out the threads that its a. for the immense benefit of the usa and b. politically popular in this current climate to return to those fundamental republican principles from the stubborn heads of the rest of them. I mean, in large part being president is being a leader too. Ron Paul imo has the intelligence, clarity, focus, and consistency to lead them if he gets elected. I hope. Oh pray god I hope.

What other thing? Yea I'm a trim carpenter/cabinet maker here in CO so now I'm driving a cab. Money's tight for me too plus I have kids to feed. At least I'm somewhat underground what with tips and well you know. Every time I see that guy speak I think I would vote him in and give him 10 years. If it goes to shit anyway at least we went down with a rational human being at the helm instead of some Corporo-Fascist.

Washington Post Article August 18, 2011 ABSOLUTELY AMAZING

Amazing that the Wash Post would actually print this re Obama. Amazing!

The Washington Post

August 18, 2011 Obama: The Affirmative Action President by Matt Patterson (columnist - Washington Post, New York Post, San Francisco Examiner)

Years from now, historians may regard the 2008 election of Barack Obama as an inscrutable and disturbing phenomenon, a baffling breed of mass hysteria akin perhaps to the witch craze of the Middle Ages. How, they will wonder, did a man so devoid of professional accomplishment beguile so many into thinking he could manage the world's largest economy, direct the world's most powerful military, execute the world's most consequential job?

Imagine a future historian examining Obama's pre-presidential life: ushered into and through the Ivy League despite unremarkable grades and test scores along the way; a cushy non-job as a "community organizer"; a brief career as a state legislator devoid of legislative achievement (and in fact nearly devoid of his attention, so often did he vote "present"); and finally an unaccomplished single term in the United States Senate, the entirety of which was devoted to his presidential ambitions. He left no academic legacy in academia, authored no signature legislation as a legislator.

And then there is the matter of his troubling associations: the white-hating, America-loathing preacher who for decades served as Obama's "spiritual mentor"; a real-life, actual terrorist who served as Obama's colleague and political sponsor. It is easy to imagine a future historian looking at it all and asking: how on Earth was such a man elected president?

Not content to wait for history, the incomparable Norman Podhoretz addressed the question recently in the Wall Street Journal:

To be sure, no white candidate who had close associations with an outspoken hater of America like Jeremiah Wright and an unrepentant terrorist like Bill Ayers would have lasted a single day. But because Mr. Obama was black, and therefore entitled in the eyes of liberaldom to have hung out with protesters against various American injustices, even if they were a bit extreme, he was given a pass.

Let that sink in: Obama was given a pass -- held to a lower standard -- because of the color of his skin. Podhoretz continues:

And in any case, what did such ancient history matter when he was also so articulate and elegant and (as he himself had said) "non-threatening," all of which gave him a fighting chance to become the first black president and thereby to lay the curse of racism to rest?

Podhoretz puts his finger, I think, on the animating pulse of the Obama phenomenon -- affirmative action . Not in the legal sense, of course. But certainly in the motivating sentiment behind all affirmative action laws and regulations, which are designed primarily to make white people, and especially white liberals, feel good about themselves.

Unfortunately, minorities often suffer so that whites can pat themselves on the back. Liberals routinely admit minorities to schools for which they are not qualified, yet take no responsibility for the inevitable poor performance and high drop-out rates which follow. Liberals don't care if these minority students fail; liberals aren't around to witness the emotional devastation and deflated self esteem resulting from the racist policy that is affirmative action. Yes, racist.

Holding someone to a separate standard merely because of the color of his skin -- that's affirmative action in a nutshell, and if that isn't racism, then nothing is. And that is what America did to Obama.

True, Obama himself was never troubled by his lack of achievements, but why would he be? As many have noted, Obama was told he was good enough for Columbia despite undistinguished grades at Occidental; he was told he was good enough for the US Senate despite a mediocre record in Illinois ; he was told he was good enough to be president despite no record at all in the Senate. All his life, every step of the way, Obama was told he was good enough for the next step, in spite of ample evidence to the contrary. What could this breed if not the sort of empty narcissism on display every time Obama speaks?

In 2008, many who agreed that he lacked executive qualifications nonetheless raved about Obama's oratory skills, intellect, and cool character. Those people -- conservatives included -- ought now to be deeply embarrassed. The man thinks and speaks in the hoariest of cliches, and that's when he has his teleprompter in front of him; when the prompters absent he can barely think or speak at all. <> Not one original idea has ever issued from his mouth -- it's all warmed-over Marxism of the kind that has failed over and over again for 100 years.

And what about his character? Obama is constantly blaming anything and everything else for his troubles. Bush did it; it was bad luck; I inherited this mess. It is embarrassing to see a president so willing to advertise his own powerlessness, so comfortable with his own incompetence. But really, what were we to expect? The man has never been responsible for anything, so how do we expect him to act responsibly?

In short: our president is a small and small-minded man, with neither the temperament nor the intellect to handle his job. When you understand that, and only when you understand that, will the current erosion of liberty and prosperity make sense? It could not have gone otherwise with such a man in the Oval Office.

DB,

I dont disagree with the article to the most extent. I feel Obama promised change and in turn gave us one of the greatest puppets acts of American Presidential history. It is true he had accomplished very little previously and hasn't during his presidency accomplished much.

My question is, who have the repubs put up to run against him. Im sorry but none of them but paul is even slightly sane. And the RBase would rather see socialism than a Ron Paul Presidency...Romney, uhhh will get more democratic votes than republican.....Perry well he ran Al GOREs campaign, nuff said...And Mr. Cain has more skeletons in his closet than everyone else in the race put together....

I hate to say it but I think the dems need to say goodbye to Obsama and Get Bills ass back into the white house by running Hilary....

Or the MMJ movement better start seriously funding MR. Paul........cuz the military personnel don't have enough $$ to do it on there own...What to do folks? Just make sure you do something cuz if not something will happen to you....

Stir the pot,
2DW

My dad once told me to never argue politics or religion but this is to good to pass up. I know there are people from all walks of life and different political preferences but why or how can a sane person back Obama. THIS COUNTRY IS FUCKING BROKE!!! And yet all he wants to do is spend money. He is currently touring the country using taxpayers dollars campaigning for the next election. He disguises it by saying he is pushing his "Jobs" package which is also campaigning. His jobs bill is nothing more than political grandstanding in the first place. Now he is blaming Republicans for not passing his $400 billion stimulus package to stimulate jobs. It didn't work the first time and added to our national debt. WTF makes him think it will work this time. All he is doing is campaigning to get votes.

Ultimately this country will survive Obama, what concerns me more is will we survive the people who elected him????

Donnybrook I agree with your message but the posters are Jingoistic. I saw Dr. Ron Paul this morning on Morning Joe. Check him out. www.msnbc.msn.com. He is the only sane voice in the entire field. Unfortunately the media won't give him his due and he explains why. On the upside, with the advent of social media the corporate media is loosing their grip on the minds of the sheeple. I found it interesting how many military families contribute to his campaigns. He attributes it to them being the ones who know whats going on with regard to Amerikan Imperialism. They are the ones that see the futility in destroying a country and then paying to rebuild it with money borrowed from China. Please farmers let's get this guy into the whitehouse and elect like-minded congressmen and senators. Then get ready to have former DEA agents picking and trimming buds for the hemp/MMJ industry. Minimum wage of course.
