does your mini split come pre charged with freon or r 21 ? how does one go about that . i do not want a tech at my house

That's a tough call mate. Luckily I had an HVAC buddy willing to come check mine out.

But to answer your question, yes my unit came pre charged with freon. Its stored inside the compressor when you get it. Once you hook up your copper lines, you let the freon out into them. Then you just have to wire in your system and it should be ready to go.

if you get one, and need help, hit me up, ill walk you through it.

krondikebar, what kind of temps are you running? Where I live, no way 8k btu would cool 2k. Nor would 12k btu cool 5600k. Tell me your secret bro, I'm all ears :)
I've got a 14k btu Mr.Slim and I'd like to add a few more lights if possible.
NBfrost, 99% of mini splits come precharged. But once all wired and hooked up, you MUST vacuum the line set before you open the valves and release the freon. And thats where a tech comes in.
You can do it yourself if you have the right tools (a good vacuum pump and a manifold gauge set for r410) and some mechanical aptitude.
Most mini split come with instructions on how to do it.

Yeah, I am very surprised that 12k btu handles 5600w (PLUS dehuey's), esp in SD. I am looking for either 18k or 24k btu units for 4k and accoutrements.

first of all, your humidity is high. Your plants arent able to sweat as much as they need to, especially when your temps are that high. im guessing you arent running co2?

I think the leaf tips curling means a root problem. whether its PH or otherwise I do not know...

Keep a close eye on them and see if they start to worsen.

I would recommend a flush if its not going to set you back at all. PH the water and let her rip.

and dont feel bad, I have been growing indoors for 8 years, and my plants right now are in poor condition. not all of them tho, which is strange...

that hummity reading is way off , the only thing there that works us the temp gague . I did a flush last night and they are clearing up now , im going to flush them one more time .. as for the lights , what do u think? should i use cool tubes or vented hoods , or just but a big ac and build a box then pipe it into the van mar in my room ?>
