I know that copper leeches into nute water but does aluminum react at all or have any negative effects on the water?

Hmm...it is salt water...so it will corrode.. stainless and brass are safe.

Honestly seeing as they make aluminum fishing boats for the ocean which is WAY salter then any nutrients you would ever use I would say your good. The only way for aluminium to leach into water and become water soluble is to be dissolved by an extremely strong acid.

Here I googled for you...Salt water causes the corrosion of aluminum creating aluminum oxide. The salt does not directly attack the aluminum, but causes an electrochemical attack like a catalyst that results in the corrosion. ... The corrosion rate also depends on the temperature, the concentration of the salt and the humidity.

Aluminium doesnt corrode like copper... In electrical college we actually did a test on that for electrodes... The copper electrode will dissolve over time in a salt solution where as aluminum wont.

You could do a test to determine it... Put a piece of aluminum foil in a very salty brine and see if it corrodes... It will create a protective coating but wont actually dissolve into the water!

So if I ran nutrients through an aluminum heatsink it would not do any harm? Theoretically anyway?

Are you trying to cool your water?

No... You have to imagine, AC units or the radiator to your car are made from Almunium, both of which are expose to water/salt/heat all the time!

You'll be good. And just to put your mind at ease look up how water chillers for grow rooms and reservoirs work, those use aluminum coils and are made to be used with nutrients and warm water
