I've never hear 'd of going 48 dark between veg and flower I've heard going dark just before harvest. What are the advantages of going dark before flower. Seems like an unneeded stressor. Jmo

Builds up flowering hormones is how i read it. Speeds up transition once switched to 12/12.

In ed rosenthals book he says this is effective. And many growers swear by it. I cant try it as my rooms run perpetually at their cycles.

Nothing should be wrong. Just put them in 12/12 and they will flower in a couple weeks or so.

do you mean you left them in the dark for 24 hrs before starting the 12/12 schedule? if so that’s a good thing!
i’ll explain if needed.

Rule #1 never panic in the growroom unless there is a fire or you left the water running.

[/Cannabis is a “short day/long night” plant, meaning it needs those conditions to bloom. The system cannabis uses to detect light changes is a group of receptors in the pigments of their leaves. There are 2 different receptors, each with a different task: Phytochrome Red and Phytochrome Far Red. They absorb light in different wavelengths and transmit that information to the plant.

Far-Red can be manipulated through the amount of light given to the plant. This receptor keeps the plant in the vegetative stage. Light in the far-red spectrum will signal this receptor to pass the chemical signal to veg. During times of light, both receptors are balanced in number, but in darkness, Far-Red receptors slowly change into Red receptors.

With longer dark periods, the number of Far-Red receptors reduces until there aren’t enough to counter the signal from the Red receptors, which tell the plant to flower.

Want to speed up your switch from veg to flower? Give plants an uninterrupted 24-36 hours of darkness before going to a 12-12 cycle. It will make more of the Far-Reds change into Reds, giving a more powerful signal to your plant that it is time to bloom. Normally, the transition can take a couple of weeks to be seen on your plants. By giving them a really long night, you can speed this up dramatically.

Is it bad that both of these have happened to me?

My house burnt up from a messed up furnace and the craziest thing is that I had JUST harvested and had (at that time) two 5 gallon buckets full of weed! When the fire broke out I was sleeping, i jumped downstairs grabbed the buckets and ran outside with them. When the fire truck got there they said they could smell what house was on fire because of the weed and when it was all said and done the fire fighters were all joking about getting a contact buzz and hoping not to have a random drug test.

All in all I still had my two 5 gallon buckets full of weed and the insurance company paid me out!

So sometimes breaking rule #1 pays off! Lol

It's nice to be growing legal finally, but I've had plenty of illegal experience in past, happy to not hide anymore, just gotta play by rules but I've always liked a challenge

I want everyone to be able to grow & smoke lol. I go help new growers get started h educated for free & even give starters to ppl with med cards & give extra I have to those that truly cant afford their medicine. I don't have much to go around but I give what I can to ppl I find that need it.
