Not sure. I know the Mags are one of the few units that use the higher quality, brand-name LEDs. Maybe they feel that there's enough evidence out there in the growing community that these lights work and they're trying to cash in on it before the low-quality producers up their game. I'm just guessing here, so don't take my word for anything.

second half of the crop is almost ready. I'm just gonna show bud porn here, as I'm lazy and I don't feel like changing lenses for garden shots.

Enjoy! (does anyone else see the sea life similarities in some of these photos? :D

Thanks Krasi,

Regarding the potency, I have had the pleasure of medicating with the first batch, as the curing is pretty much finished. Definitely a head-high, and a fuggin strong one at that. Strong as in no-way-I'm-driving and I was essentially non-functional in a public setting. There were some pretty interesting hallucinations too, the most memorable being the floor swaying like a boat and barely able to keep my balance at one point. I enjoyed, but I won't be smoking full bowls to myself anymore if there's anything I have to do. The other times I medicated I did smoke only half a bowl, and this dose was MUCH more conducive to productive activity. Actually, after the first 20-30 minutes of the strongest effects, I become quite motivated to do shit, which is pretty awesome, since now I have a clean house, all the yard work is done, both cars are vacuumed out, and I still managed to go hiking and on three dates with my lady over the weekend. Definitely liking the organic home-grown meds better than anything else I've ever had before. Now I just need to get an indica-dominant crop going so that I have some sleepy-time meds.

Hey Farmers! Can anyone tell me if there's any relationship between amber trichs and fall foliage? I'm waiting for the second half of the crop to mature to about 50% amber trichs, but the percentage seems to be holding steady at about 15% for the past 10 days or so. In contrast, the garden has developed a LOT of fall foliage over the last few days, so I'm wondering if I can expect to see more amber trichs soon.

Thanks for any feedback. Here are some photos to illustrate my conundrum:

I had a situation like this with my White Fire.
Never got any amber.
Now I just cut her at nine weeks.

Your buds look great, but the plants look over done to me.
I'd take em down.

Thanks for the advice Dunge. I did end up harvesting today. The buds look so good. They've developed a very pleasant purple hue, and the smell is off the charts. I had to take a break after the first plant because I was getting light-headed from the smell. During the break, I heated about 2 tablespoons of butter over low heat, threw in the scissor-hash, stirred it up until the hash dissolved, and soaked that up with some sourdough. OMG!! the taste is fantastic. I swear, you're going to see MJ in the spice aisle at the grocery store if MJ is ever legalized. It's like an extremely potent version of pesto type flavors.

It's the stickiest sugar I've ever had the pleasure of handling. Oh, and I don't wanna get rid of the taste. :p If they had a weed flavored toothpaste, I would buy it.

if u got any added co2 at all in there they'll just keep growing as such with no amber, in a perfect environment they refuse to ripen the buds, hope this helps

Well, I officially wrapped up the grow today.

I ended up with 86 grams FULLY dried. I prefer crispier buds for preservation purposes, as 3 ounces will normally last me over a year. I'll admit, I'm using much more regularly now, so I don't think this harvest will last that long.

Here's a closeup and a macro of a fully cured piece of cannabis candy from my virgin grow. I've painfully discovered that I have to be mindful of my dose with this crop. She can be a hallucinogenic bitch!

All in all I'm very happy with my first grow. I did learn a lot and I think I will easily pull my numbers up the next round, especially with some indica-dominant genetics.

The jars on the right are the sugar-leaves I'll be using for hash. The jars on the left are obviously the sweet sweet buds. I've smoked about a quarter of a jar so far since pulling the first half of the harvest almost a month ago now. I'm using that 420 Preserve stuff in the storage jars to hopefully prolong their potency a smidge.

I hope this noob was able to show that you can pull quality meds from under an LED unit. If I weren't going to be so busy this summer, I'd already have started my second grow. But I got shit to DO!! PEACE!!!!

Glad it worked out for you, Medi,

I'm happy your concerns with the type of clone you received didn't ruin anything.

Totally looking forward to future grows you might put up. (after summer, of course.)

Pieces!

I'll definitely post my second grow here. I'm always learning something, and the Farm is a great resource. I may wait until the whole thing is complete and post to the Diary a few times a week to keep the interest up. It's been fun, and I'll be back for more.

They are quite piney with a strong acetone fruit background, a hint of petrol, and straddling the line of astringent with strong whiffs. The aromatic cerebral response is a forced mellowness.

My lady says they're stinky.

Congratulations on a fine start to a captivating skill.
Do you happen to know how many watts your Magnum 357 actually consumes.
I just purchased a Blackstar 240W and was shocked when it was only a 130 watt unit draw.
It was my fault for not reading past the marketing ruse of carefully not listing unit power use.
I am disappointed by paying almost twice as much per watt as I thought I was, but the lamp is putting out enough light to make me run it in tandem with a 400W HPS.
I would have rather run a full LED trial, but this lamp is just not big enough for my space.

I don't have a watt-meter, but I've seen reports that the 357Mag pulls about 160 watts. I wish the LED manufacturers would be more honest about the actual wattage too, but that's why I researched all potential LED units carefully before I decided to go with the Mag.

Read the title, it's a regular Mag, so it's ~160 watts total. And no, an LED is never run at it's full wattage. The efficiency drops off drastically after a certain point. And finally, this is my first grow with a sativa heavy strain, so of course I wasn't going to blow away yield records. My meds are quality, not "all leaf," but I wouldn't expect someone with these little turds of wisdom to know the difference.
