Hi all firstly any advice from any experienced growers would be greatly appreciated ๐Ÿ˜

This is my first grow i am doing a fem blue dream sherbert plant it is roughly day 18 since seed planted i am growing in canna coco medium the first issue i had was i think the fist light i had was to be honest utter garbage it was a cheap like that came as part of a bundle i have recently upgraded to a vivosun and I thought my plant was starting to thrive as it has just started to produce its 2nd set of true leaves up to this point I have only really been giving them water no nutrients as I had conflicting advice some people said I didn't need to give nutes for the first couple of weeks as the plant has enough nutrients to last other advice mainly google said I should be giving nutrients from the start I have given 2 very light nute solutions about a week ago but yesterday I decided to give it 1ml each of a&b with some seaweed extract and about 500ml of tap wawr water up to know if have only really been giving about 250ml - 400ml im really not sure how much water my plant needs at this stage or when I should be giving nutes any help would be really appreciated also i have not been using a ph meter or changing the ph levels I have just been using unchanged tap water I have a feeling this might be a rookie mistake I have ordered a ph meter with up and down which is arriving tomorrow after feeding plant yesterday I have woke up this morning im not sure if it looks to healthy maybe over watering or nute lockout i have no idea the leaves are abit curled down if anyone could give me advice on what my next steps should be I would greatly appreciate it also people say about run off I have no idea how to tell or how to get runoff when I lift the pot up their is a tint bit of moisture but nothing I can really judge as im not sure if its just off the temp of my tent as its does get hot all advice welcome please ๐Ÿ˜

Also i know my coco levels are abit low it was planning on topping my pot up when it gets slighlt bigger

The top pics are with my grow light off and phone light and other with grow light on

Leave it alone, stop fretting about it , it looks absolutely perfect...when a plant puts its first leaves out like that and it can collect some photons it will pause above ground for a week while it concentrates on putting roots down, this is when a lot of novices think 'its stopped , i better give it something'....i did it. I dont think you have given it too many nutrients or it would have tip yellowing, but as for watering ..Im not sure with coco , tried it once , didnt like it.
what i do now , when its at that stage, is a light mist with clonex or diluted root juice ...1 or 2 times a week .

Thankyou just with coir cor having nothing it im not sure when I shud be giving nutes as heard diffent things also with me using tap water will I have to flush water to level ph or just start adding ph my plantwas curled down this morning it has had good growth past few days since changing light

When you get your ph pen just ph your water to 5.8. Don't worry about the ph of the water already in the pot the plant looks healthy. If it's canna coco plus it will have nutrients for the first 3 weeks. Make sure to not use to much water, the plant is small and the pot is big if you use too much water the plant can't drink it all and the water at the bottom of the pot goes bad and your roots won't want to grow into it. Is your pot really heavy?

The watered with nutes about 500ml yesterday
Plants look perfect don't change anything. Just make sure there's solution coming out the bottom every time you water or salt will eventually build up and give you problems.

So if you gave 500 ml you should be collecting 50-100 ml runoff. Use half strength feed every watering and see how it goes. You can increase feed and frequency as they get bigger but avoid giving them plain water.

Okay thankyou i will start feeding again tomorrow at
5 when I can test ph im still abit unsure how to tell run off when I lift the pot its just a little bit damp how would I tell how much it should be please

Like I dnt mean to sound clueless ffs but do I need a container or anything underneath so I can tell run off becoz atm its just directly on the silver lining floor

Ok so it's really important that you raise them off the floor. Any kind of plant riser will do. They must be allowed to drip from underneath the pot. Some people make saucers etc to catch it. I let mine drip on the tent liner and pick it up with a super absorbent rag and squeeze it into a container.

Put water in a bucket and give it a day for chemicals to settle out or go to the air. Plants have to deal with fewer chemicals that way. Leaving a bit of space to fill up earth if the plant gets stringy is a good move. Don't worry about nutes for a couple weeks.

If plants start having problems worry about PH. If they keep looking like the first pic why worry about something that isn't a problem?

I don't water to runoff. If they start wilting or pots feel too light when I pick them up they aren't getting enough water. With coco you'll need to keep things moister than earth but not to the point of drowning the plant. With experience you'll figure it out. I use autopots to bottom water with coco and they work well. I never have to guess if plants get enough water as long as the bottom trays are full.

Best wishes on your grow.

David it is important that you follow advice from coco growers or at least someone who is familiar with the differences.
There is a reason you water coco to runoff. It allows you to check the nutrient load of the coco. With your choice of preloaded coco you test the water running out to see when your nutrients are depleted and ready for additional nutrients.

Anyone telling you that you are overwatering coco should be ignored unless the water is literally pouring out the top of the pot as you fill it.
I wish I could give you a link for a great website for coco but linking the site gets you yelled at and f word bombs by admin.
So hopefully a coco grower can explain how to interpret that is going on when you put nutrients in and let it drain about 10% of what you put in and test for EC/PPM
The way the nutrients measured go up and down will tell you how things are doing and how to stay in the lanes.
Coco also like to hang onto certain nutrients. Coco can also build up salts that can make the nutrition not work properly especially when draining off is not used.
Good luck.
If you have not done so yet you can look for information on our website by hitting those 3 horizontal bars at the top left. Navigate to forums and the choose catagories. Scroll down looking for Grow Diaries.
Once in diaries you can use the search feature to tag keep
Keywords like coco and your nutrition choice.
It will then populate posts with those topics so you can follow along and see how it is done.
Some diaries are very well done with lots of data and some you will read and see stuff you may be doing wrong and how it kills growing plants.

Well I hope there's no runoff if you're bottom watering!! Lol OP is not using auto pots. They are their own seperate animal all together. You can't "drown" a plant in coco that's properly planted, the physical structure of the coco allows enough air to always be present in the root zone. Add perlite and you can't fuck it up.

I think some people use coco like soil because it looks similar but it's better to treat it like DWC.

The issue with coco coir is it has a tendency to snatch calcium and magnesium making it unavailable to the plant, and replacing it with potassium and sodium. Prebuffering the coco mitigates this but it still happens, and is prone to occur if you don't keep the medium properly moist all the time. Because it has to be moist all the time, throwing some perlite in there gives you peace of mind that the roots won't suffocate.

As far as feeding goes, when your baby is starting to throw it's third node you can start adding a little bit of seaweed extract in the mix to introduce it. After that you can start mixing to about 200ppm strength or 0.4 EC which is what seedlings should get. An easy feeding strength reference is 2-4-6-8.

200ppm seedlings
400ppm young plants
600-800ppm mature plants

As they move into flower you can potentially take them to 1250ppm/2.5 EC but you have to pay attention to what they can handle.

I noticed it looks like pure coco with no perlite , the one time i did that i ended up with a solid block of coco which i dont think the roots could push through...as i watered it all compressed down ...thats when i had the brilliant idea of mixing 50/50 soil and coco , another bad idea...
