Can plain vermiculite be used for a soiless mix? has anyone ever done it, what the general consensus about growing in straight verm. It seems like it would hold water and oxygen very well, maybe too well???

How often would I have to water 2 gallon grow bags filled 50/50 perlite/verm? Does it dry out quickly?

It can dry out a bit faster but not much and it will take you a little time to get your water schedule down but once you wire it you can't go wrong .

The other thing guys is you gotta make sure you treat it like any other medium and keep salt from building up so every third or fourth watering just use ph water to flush salts out and also water to runoff every time you water:flower

You should see 100% + faster growth , Start your nutes at 30 % of what the bottle says and then once ready bump up to 50 % and you should be golden:flower

Google "Hempy Buckets"

3 to 1 perlite/vermiculite works well and 100% perlite works just as well.

Good Luck!

how large can you go with just perlite as the medium? i would like to try it but think if i did them big the plants would unroot or tip over.
