Alright you entomologists out there. What am I dealing with here? Harmful, beneficial or neither?
They rotate really rapidly to the other side of the stem when I try to see them closer, and then if I pester it enough they drop off and fly away

yes I have googled to try to “match the hatch” is it a thrip?

Looks and sounds like a moth of some kind! Laying it's eggs maybe?

No not a thrip. No clue. As long as it’s not chomping on your plant you’re good.

watch for bulges in the stems. If you start to see that, you can bet it’s a moth that laid eggs and those eggs hatched into larvae which is now feeding inside the stem. I have this problem now.
There’s a little larvae in there that I’m waiting to see what it grows out to.
