I think it was more of a tech, (vs ) knowing about your plant, that tech can't do for you argument. I wasn't arguing, I'll stick to my non tech approach. Knowing hands on, what your plant needs are, is more important than what a meter says.

In my opinion.

Not sure how the grower community generally sees this, but I've switched to the "floating seeds in a cup of water" way of germination. I only lost one seed out of that (of of about 6 so far on two separate germination occasions) and that was because it germinated way too fast. By like day 2 on was so long I guess the tail broke off and it sank. I'd suggest you try it.

15 hours in water glass.
2 sheets of paper towel..
Put seeds in the middle of the paper towels. Put on paper plate, to help not drying seeds out. Keep moist for 4 or 5 days. In darkness ! Do not let dry out, but don't drown.

Yeah, I had used the paper towel method from the beginning because I didn't know there was any easier way. Then I tried the cup and SO MUCH easier.

I just time it so that I can be sure to keep an eye on it around when I think it will be ready. It was just too much work maintaining the paper towel method and I lost much more like that. Only thing I will say is that lately my plants have had very weak stems at the beginning stages. I'd have to prop them up with something, but I don't think that has much to do with the germination method (but not sure on this). They do end up building strong stems later on though, so not big enough issue.

I've heard of that but never tried it. I know how detrimental too much water can be so I stick to solo cups but it sounds like you've got it down. Very cool.

Like I said, my seeds never make it 2 years. I don't buy to many at once. My goal is to buy 5 or 10 seeds every year, that are top picks, tch wise. Quality not quantity. Right now I only have like 25 seeds, but they are famous.
GodfatherOG, Black gorilla, White Widow, and Bannon 2.0. Next year I'll see whats hot on the market, or hunt for Columbian Red bud !

I meant to quote TheGoldenRoad but since I still have like no idea how to use this site, I just gave up on figuring how to get a quote in for now.

I just use regular tap water too. Put it in a drawer and check up on it every couple hours after like a day. Only thing that does suck is that it can be pretty darn tricky to pull them out of the water since they'll be dodging the tweezers. Still worth it for me.

Well, I'm old school. And, it's 100 %, so why change now.
As far as stems, I put a lite wind on mine, that helps strengthen your stems.
Sounds like your growing Sativa ! That's why I don't gro Sativa.

I do Indica autoflowers. I do have a fan blowing, I should aim it directly at the seedlings. I usually just leave it as the same position as flower which is generally not hitting the plant directly.

that's how i m doing as well, buying what i need for 3-6 month or so when sales happen

i have also 400 seeds from a single hermie in the tent that pollinated the 7 others plants, sound like a lot of seeds but not much in fact i only found them on nodes preflowers locations and rarely inside the buds themselves.

i store them in between 24° 28° almost all the years and with some heat and heat spike during summer
i launch 20 of them as back up each grow to see how the germination rate drop with time

grew thoose seeds once got 2 hermie spaced in the tent that only pollinated themselves and none of the 6 others got like 200 seeds
i store thoose seeds at 4°C in the fridge to test in some years.

Free pack of what though ?!
As much time as I spend in my gro room, I got to know what I plant. And, it's got to be the best seed, not worried about discounts.
You got to remember, it's a big job growing. You got o start with the best seed.
To me anyhow.

Exactly. That's a lot of work too. And, pulling them without pollinating the females !

I've never had any problems with Barney's. They have sales where if you buy two ten packs, you get one free. It's only a few times a year from what I've seen.
