I was just shopping for a new humidifier for my 2x2x4. I came across one that included an aromatherapy diffuser. That got me thinking, isn't peppermint oil a method of IPM? Has anyone used an aromatherapy diffuser for IPM? Did it work? I recall reading that spider mites don't like rosemary oil. It seems for my small space a couple of drops of peppermint oil one night, and another night of rosemary oil might be an effective IPM. Sorry if this has been posted before.

Strongly recommend against humidifier in the tent. Leads to issues.

Thanks. And I see you point. I should probably explain. My tent is in my garage in a very hot, dry climate. I only run from October through end of April. When I'm starting my seedlings, the normal ambient humidity is only 22-37%. I seem to have a lot of trouble starting seedlings, and I suspect it's that the humidity is so low. Clearly using a dome for each is an easier solution, but I was just thinking of an interesting way to handle IPM! What's it called when I overly complicate? Oh ya, a Rube Goldberg...

They tend to leave water stains on everything and fungus issues pop up. Be better to humidify the intake air.

Understood. Thanks! I might try that first, since I have a large room humidifier I could use outside the tent.

I think using aromatherapy oils, like rosemary and peppermint, might work as repellents, especially for critters with a flying stage of development, like thrips. But if a mite found its way into your grow, they'd probably hold their noses and deal with the scent.
