I have 6 female Malawi plants doing quite well; except I noted a strange variegated pattern in the newer leaves lately. In the image it is more pronounced than actual. All other aspects are quite good. Any thoughts? Moderate to chilly evenings lately in the 50's could that be it? Does Mw have variegated leaves?
In my opinion, that is either disease, or a form of variegation. The disease I'm thinking of would be a mosaic virus, but what you're showing isn't a presentation we see too often. I wonder if this is like the crinkly leaves some of us have seen on seed starts. Hm...
Thanks for the response. I guess it's variegation, the plant is very healthy and setting flowers. Pinched at node 5, they are over 8' tall. Landrace Malawi Regular. There was a large tomato plant nearby that had verticulim wilt that has been removed. Tree of Heaven and Black Walnut are in the area, perhaps it's "juglone" toxicity.
