3-Stage Portable Aquarium-Countertop Reverse Osmosis Water Filter System-100GPD

So I took a chance and ordered this RO system from Amazon. I have been dealing with extremely hard well water for years, and only recently decided my current crop NEEDS cleaner water.

So what did I get for 60 bucks? Blown away. Of all the reviews I read on it on Amazon, this thing performs great. There was 1 or 2 bad reviews from lunkheads who couldn't figure out how to set it up. Personally, I think anyone with opposable thumbs, the reading comprehension of a kindergarten student, and half a brain could figure this out and have it set up in less than 30 minutes. Maybe that's why people think I'm an asshole. I don't know.

But anyway, I had this set up in all of 10 minutes.

PPM from 650 out the tap
Down to 5 ppm.

Our well water is SO bad it literally runs orange from clay deposits sometimes. Extremely high levels of calcium and magnesium have been throttling my plants like no tomorrow.

Not anymore!

Ok, so I just bought this and have only had it up and running for 2 days. Still, for the price, I think this is wonderful. The replacement filters are only 37 dollars for the set. Says filters should last 6 months to a year, depending on starting water. It also says it is meant to handle water up to 1000 ppm input. So being that mine is 650, if these filters last longer than 4 months I'll be very happy!

The price is what blows me away. This is a simple unit, easy to set up, replacement filters are cheap. I will update with a report when I have to change my filters, but so far works exactly as advertised.

It's a *little* slow, but I'm chalking that up to my highly contaminated water. However, it fills a 5 gallon jug in about 2 hours, which is fine for me as I only need to produce about 30 gallons a day of clean water, tops.

I am mostly excited that someone has FINALLY come up with a suitable RO system with an affordable price tag. This is going to change the market, big time. Finally, poor people can afford clean water. Now the big companies will have no choice but to drop the ridiculous price on their systems.

I never thought I would be able to find a good RO system for UNDER 100 bucks, but this is it, folks!!!

I agree, I have been using a $65 50gpm 4-stage for a few years now and it still works great. Takes my 140ppm down to 0 and fills a 5gal. in around 3 hours. I put a hose timer on it.

Awesome! That looks exactly like mine but with 4 stage instead of 3 and I used the blue line for clean and red for waste. How often have you had to change your filters? I'm assuming that's a Geekpure model, as well?

It’s most likely not very efficient, esp with the osmotic back pressure requirements, and low supply pressure. I’m a certified Reverse Osmosis Specialist And work in biopharm - specifically in the making of pure water, water for injection and clean steam so I’m not just talking out my ass. Still those little units are great especially for people on well water, the waste is less of an issue and your just paying for power for the pump.
Ok so it’s 1:2 - so you could do worse. Also great choice on the 3 filter unit, very often people add the 4 units that try and add minerals (salts) back in.

Yeah I just tested the last 5 gallon jug it just filled. zero ppm. I am so happy right now I could cry.

Also I use a good BlueLab EC meter not a cheap walmart special. So far I am extremely satisfied with the performance.

Yeah the waste water is about twice as much as the clean water, and I could see how that might be an issue for people in cities that pay for their water, but I'm guessing if you have semi-clean city water, the waste water may be a *little* less. Honestly I've probably got the dirtiest well water out of everyone here.. It's bad.

I don't have super high water pressure or anything, either. I'd say it's about average pressure that most households have.

This is the largest R/O systemI have worked on.

this is the size of the pumps and motors used

This is the UV

Will turn out 25 million gal of water a day. This is in Arizona actually and one of the few facilities in the US that’s permitted to go from toilet to tap. That being said zero of this water goes to the tap, if you had to guess where would this water be going ?

Wow that's awesome!

I'd guess that water is being used for irrigation for crops/grass/etc?

It’s nothing compared to the desalination trains in Saudi Arabia, those are like a small
City with skyscrapers of ROs

I knew it had something to do with Grass. I know we can't grow grass here in colorado without irrigation, either. not nice lawns anyway.

replace the filters??. Seriously I never have. It has become a little slower but not much. I’m ready to replace it anytime but it still seems good. From what I understand, it is almost as cheap just to just buy a new one than replace the filters.

Im on well water and just add some back in to replace minerals.

It’s added to improve taste really if it’s being used for drinking. For plants I would recommend not sending it through a softener or mineral adding filter/bed

Ah, capitalism.

One one hand I'm grateful for capitalism because it's allowed me to be alive for the downfall of western society. On the other hand...

Yeah I noticed that, too. The filter system is 57 bucks, the replacement filters are 37 bucks. Sounds about right. No ridiculous markup that I can see.

All the system is, is filter , carbon bed and membrane. That’s why it’s 2/3 the cost....

I think my fourth stage is a de-ionizer and the 5-stages add salts back in (with these cheap units anyway). Is the de-ionizing not even necessary?

Welp I found this thread and I'm convinced. I have been buying 5 gallon jugs from sams and I'm sick of it. Lol. I started using tap water. I hooked an aerator up to a bin full of tap water and would let it bubble for 24 hours or so to get the chlorine out but that's not good enough for me. I just didnt
want to spend 300 dollars on a filter system. 60 bucks I can handle. Giving this a run. Thanks!!!!
