I'm currently coming off of my second ever grow and both have been Autoflowers. My wife who once hated the idea of me growing, is now fascinated and in love with it. As a result she wants me to grow her some Durban Poison.
I already have seeds on order, have all my soil and nutrients but am indecisive on plant size. Being I've always grown small plants and even still SCROG my plants, I've always grown 6 plants in either 3 or 5 gallon in my 4x2. (MUCH fatter denser Buds and weight in bud in 3 gallon pots but much larger plants overall in 5 gallon is my current observation.
I will still have to use my 4x2x5 tent on this grow and I've heard this strain could get really tall. So my question is, in a 4x2, with a Mars Hydro TSL2000, should I do 3 plants in 7 gallon directly under the light strip and SCROG or should I do more plants in smaller pots or less plants in bigger pots, or even just go with one big ass plant, multiple toppings, LST, HST etc. I'm still new to all this and have now had 2 successful auto flower grows with some hiccups. Any help would be greatly appreciated. I have 2 weeks to decide but need to order my mesh pots asap.

P.S. I attached a picture of my tiny little mutant plant. The plant that refused to die no matter all my fuck ups lol. The plant was a monster 8" tall bahaahhahahah. But still got 19.78 Grams of some super stinky ,sticky, pretty Gelato. Will see in a few weeks when it cures how it smokes.

The Durban Poison will not be autos. I'm switching to photoperiod plants for the first time. So would you suggest everything you just stated for Feminized Photo seeds (Durban Poison)? Sorry If my picture threw you off. That was just a joke of a plant I managed to basically bring back from the dead quickly and it was so tiny amd funny to look at. Surprised it even gave me nearly 20 grams.

I'll rephrase my question too for anyone else...
For Feminized Durban Poison Seeds. In a 4x2 space with a Mars hydro TSL2000, should I put 3 plants in 7 gallon pots right directly under the light or 4 plants in 5 gallon pots spread throughout in a square shape under a rectangular light.

It depends its all preference the bud size is dependent on your pot size

Not true. Bud size is genetic. Pot size can affect it but we have never had an issue with small buds and we grow in 3 gal pots.
Our current auto has .. had .. buds twice the size of the pix above.

Yep, splitting the plant (topping) adds more than the plant can sustain in various size pots. We use 3 gal pots and we top at the 5th node, toss the bottom set of branches and then top for 8-12 colas per plant. If we used 5 gal pots, we could get 10-16 colas, but it's not needed. If we need more, we just add another plant.

I want biggest bud size not Popcorn buds. I'll attach a video of my current gelato auto in a 3 gallon pot. I would rather have fewer of these size colas then a bunch of popcorn buds.

I have just harvested a Durban Poison plant grown under a 400W Eye Hortilux in a 3.2 x 3.2 ft tent. I have used 7 Gal pots and had 4 plant in the tent....on the current grow I'm planning for 3 plants in the same pots I already have and scrog them.
I feel like I can utilize the tent space better and leave more room for the plants to develop....if I have to have 4 or more again I would go with 5 gal though and keep them smaller than what I did on the past grow.
I guess that if have the pots already you can just not fill them up completely and stop at 5 gal. I did a run with organic soil and the plants had no signs of deficiencies at any stage of growth, had spider mites though and some black fruit flies which I had to take of. Fertized with compost tea twice in veg and twice in flo then water only. Overall happy with the results although one plant had a significantly lower yeadl than the others, I'm wondering if it had to do with genetics, it was a freebie seed I got from a seed bank.

My first grow I had 6 grandaddy purp autos in 5 gallon pots under SCROG and ended up with about 24" tall plants and 9 ounces of quality bud and 4 or 5 ounces of trim. This grow I'm doing 6, 3 gallon plants and my plants are much shorter but nothing but bud. I have it somewhat figured out with autos (will just do them for fun). But for Durban Poison and knowing it can get tall and big ideally want a table top canopy with dense buds vs lots of branches full of popcorn buds.

Fox farm will be easier

If soil just use 5gallon

coco is more hands on but grows faster.

hydro on training wheels

they won’t even get that big in the tent to utilize 7gallon
