I'm not sure it's a 'most beneficial' thing, to me it's a 'more effective/more efficacious' thing. To that end, flat white paint, the white side of the insulation sheets, and that OSB that comes with a silvered side all work for me.

That's a fantastic tip, thank you. Especially because I have something like 7 gallons of that stuff leftover from a home remodel/repaint and I never returned the unopened bucket. Probably needs to be remixed, it's a few years old.

mylar aka PET film aka biaxially-oriented polyethylene terephthalate aka boPET- reflects 99% of the light. in terms of reflection it is the best. but it sucks to hang, gets dirty easy when using foliars, will fade if you clean it, can tear, etc etc. a nice flat white paint is so much easier to scale.

just learned of this

ORCA Grow Film™ provides the following unique advantages over traditional reflective foils:

99% Diffuse Surface: Microfiber structure creates even light distribution across material surface regardless of incident angle of light. The resulting isotropic surface luminance eliminates hot spots and does not require surface to be hung flat during installation.

- Diffuse vs. Specular and Why diffuse reflection matters.

Highly Reflective Surface: Measured at 94% reflectivity across the full visible light spectrum. ORCA Grow Film™ is the highest performing reflective surface in the hydroponic industry.

- Performance comparison

- What does full visible light spectrum mean and why does it matter?

Thermally Reflecting: High infrared reflectance keeps heat where it should be. (More)
100% Light Tight.
No Color Shift or Iridesince: Light reflected from surface maintains the original color wavelength so you get the full spectrum from your lamps. (More)
Durable, puncture and tear resistance: 11 mil thick
Waterproof Washable & cleanable with common household cleaners:
Mold and algae growth resistant.
UV Protected and Stable: Blocks out harmful UV light with wavelength below 400nm, material does not yellow. (More)
Recyclable eco-friendly material containing no halogens, plasticizers or VOCs.
Made in Canada
here they compare Orca to most of the other brands of film and theres no comparison !

I doubt mylar will increase the yield anyway, white paint is the best imo

I'm in the flat white paint camp also. Considered the reflectix UV blocking stuff but then I saw a grow where, because of the humidity, mold grew btw. the wall and the reflectix. No thanks...
