Mix that scum in well and feed it with the tea to your plants. They will love you for it.!!! There is a lot of dissolved organic proteins in that scum and your plants will love it.

The science is twofold, on one hand we need lots of DO (dissolved 02) to feed the microbes we are attempting to create. But the bubbling we use is a process that also attracts and holds a lot of dissolved organic material on the bubbles surface which rises to the top of the bucket causing the foam.

The term is foam fractionater or protein skimming. Aquarist's all over the world use the process of protien skimming to remove the organics from their aquarium water as a way to reduce organic matter from their tanks especially in living reef tanks where water quality is paramount.

But for our purposes of growing organically the removal and tossing of your foam is taking away a lot of the goodies your plants need. Like protiens and amino acids.

nice happy I did it then that and I add about 25% of the old brew in to the new brew to keep it going that ok?

Yes I believe so as long as the old brew hasnt gone anaerobic.

Also keep in mind brewing for longer than 24-36 hours is actually counter productive. So be sure to use your brews and dont brew for longer than these times.

Your nose will know if it goes bad trust me anaerobic is unmistakably nasty smelling. Sweet dirt & organics smell is good. The smell of rotten puke and death is bad or anaerobic.

Typically the longer you brew the less diverse your microbes will be. So if you add your old tea to your new tea the microbes that dominated your last batch will like dominate your new batch. It's survival of the fittest in the brew.
