Hey there fellow growers! :D
I'm new here... Looking for a nice active comunity to share and learn.
Made a post in the intro forum but it's waiting for approval from the mods or something?
After years of feeling the urge to an indoor grow, i sayd F*it... And a few months ago i built myself a small plywood closet.
I'm not new to growing and got plenty of outdoor experience. Also did a whole lot of reading over the last 15 years..
Indoor experience however... 2nd indoor run ever! First one was 6 years ago.... I'm learning!
My very first run in this closet is in week 4 of flower right now..
But let's do a little recap first :D
The build, short version:
Baiscally just beams and plywood with a hatch door. (and a small one for acces to the extractor fan etc.)
Dimensions: H 127cm W 137 cm 60cm.
Effective grow area: 90x60cm
I had to build it under a sloping roof, so the acces was a bit tricky.. I live in a small european city house and room is tight!
Also had to deal with an expension tank.. But i managed! :D
I wont bother you with all the details... But here's a video i made after the build.. if interested!
(sorry for the dutch text, i had not anticipated this forum/post at the time)
The vid is right after i completed most of the work. I did some more tweaking and stuff since.
like cable management, adding dehumidifyer and moving some stuff around.
The light:
DIY LED bar style light.
Basically 8 bars containing: 512x Samsung lmB301B 3000k diode + 512x Samsung lm301B 5000k diodes.
Paired with 2 meanwell drivers running 180W each. Both dimmable.
Total power = 360W..
I never go above 250W (no need, it could handle 360W no prob).
Running it at 215W right now.

The Grow:
Growing 2 nice ladies:
Nutrients:
I am using Bionova's organic dry living soil feed toghether with the organic Plagron line. (Plagron about 50% of recommended dosage with the plagron line. 100% on the bionova)
Veg:
Ah, goold old veg. I love veg more than flower. Simply because there's more to do training wise.
Flower you just leave them be and it's kinda boring.
So i planted these may 5th.
They grew.. had their water etc..
Both plants where topped at node 5.
Both plants had some heavey LST bondage holding them down.
+ defoliation when too crowded.
Orange bud unfortionately lost 1 out of her 4 main shoots during the first lst session.
(whoopsie).
Blue zushi had some issues in the beginning. Probably water/oxigen related. But she got over it after her final repot.
I wont bother you with the veg any further... Lets skip straight to July 17th. The day i flipped them to 12/12
You know what... Less words, more pictures!.
Dutch passion - Orange bud 2.0
Dutch passion - Blue Zushi
Flower week 1:
Or week 2... The Dutch forum i've been active on for 15 years we all start counting flower from the point in time where we can see some actualy decent bud development.
I see many online growers that start counting the day they flipped to 12/12.
What's the standard here?
Well..
More vids!:
Sorry i'm the worst cameraman..
So what suprised me the most was the stretch on orange bud!
She aint done stretching here at all.
She ended up quadrupling in size since 12/12 switch. Probably something to do with the extremely hot weather at the time here.
Blue Zushi on the other hand barely doubled. I would have liked her to grow a little more in the end..
I placed some wooden planks under her pot to level the canopy.
Flower week 2:
Euh sorry for the edit... It'ss Probably not the best. But i was having a blast!

Less words, more vids.
Flower week 3/4:
There's probably so much i missed to share...
But i'd love awnsering any questions from you guys!
Feel free to ask anything.
I'l probably be updating weekly.
Peace!

Righty..
Since nobody replied it doesn't seem like the people here are interested at all. Therefore i wont be updating this grow any more and probably wont be that active on here..
We will see i guess.
If anyone is still interested: i'l be posting on the Dutch forum, www.jointjedraaien.nl
Somehow that small forum seems to be Infinitely more active lol.

This tends to be a slow time of year on the forums because everybody is too busy growing.
Kudos on the build out, I can see the space constraints you were talking about. Every branch that grows, just keep laying them down horizontally until you're ready to flip, or do a scrog... So you don't run out of vertical space.

@Gmix
Thanks for the reply! Ahh forum drama.. I've been trough some.
I wonder what that post was about... :)
Best way to get the forum popping again is to welcome and guide newcommers! :D
@Ninjadogma
It's the season right? Depending on where you live i guess xD.
Yea the vertical space constraints are a limiting factor for sure.
Probably wont be able to touch 2gr/w because of it.. Not that i really care tbh i just want some quality smoke.
So yea just holding them down intil i flip is basically what i did!
Even did some supercropping 2 weeks afer i flipped. :D
Thank god they're done stretching now. Any taller and it would be a problem.
Maybe i should be a little more patient on this forum.. I've seen dead forums revive before.. :)
Just took these :
Week 5.. or 7. :)

The post was just a daily chat.
They updated the forum & closed the thread. It killed the vibe a bit.

That is some clever
???? there, a little work but very functional. The grow about waist high no bending over, but wait! what if u were to make a dropping floor on cable as the plants grow u lower the platform everything on sides lower with it, cut ducking for extend length
Edit: I watched ur other vid, ur plants are actually a good size.

It's definitely something i'l keep in mind if i want to do some sativa runs. Could probably gain about 5 to 8 inches or 15/20cm this way.
Mich might not sound like a lit but is about a 25% hight increase.

Iām new here and looking at your grow. Very impressive with the DIY lights!
This is my first post as Ive noticed the forum is slowā¦Sometimes this can be a good thing on forums, less people can mean that you get to know people a little better without being flooded with strangers that come and go. Having a few good forum friends instead of too many can work, we will see.
In any case, Iām here watching and have also built my own custom grow cabinet out of a safe with locking doors. I might hit you up for some tips on lights and ventilation if thatās OK.. Best of luck with this grow! Also, please let me know how high the odor level is with orange bud 2.0⦠Someone told me this is a very low odor strain which is a must for me.

It could be very nice to have a small and select group.
And of course you can always ask me advice for your setup.
Obd2 odor wise.. Not the strongest around, definitely not the weakest either!
She's actually very sweet and cytrus like. Blue zushi has less odor in my case.. But it all depends on what phenotype and the grow conditions etc... If i pop the same strains another time it could be the other way around.
Are you planning to use a carbon filter?
That should help sith 90% of the odor.
But even with a filter i can still smell some hints of cannabis outside of the grow room.
If you really want less smell.. Look in to Nothern lights or Frisian dew / frisian duck.
I love the safe built idea :D got pictures?

Outstanding in my opinion. They are a good size, but seem to be a great quality as from what I can see. I don't post much and kind of felt that same way with not many replies. A few who did keep me going but it's all love throughout the site. I think what you have going is awesome and I'd love to see more from you. I wish I could get my plants a decent size. I've been using all living soil and Gaia green amendments but seem that get to a point and stop the stretch. I do a lot of topping and lst so I know why but. You my friend, have a good looking pair of gals.

Thanks brother! I appreciate that a lot!
There is 3 main factors that determine stretch... In the following order.
1 being big factor, 3 smaller.
1: light.
If the light intensity is too low, or too much red (like far red etc) plants tend to stretch more.
Make sure you have the right grow light with the right spectrum and intensity for your wishes.
Try upping the lights intensity or hanging it closer to the canopy to prevent more Stretch.
2: Genetics.
Especially Sativa dominant strains can be veery stretchy. Look for some indica strains that are known to stay small abd compact.
3: Heat.
Excessive heat and warmth can also stimulate stretch. What i read from other growers is that they expect about 20-30% more stretch during summer.
Soo my advice to you would be to consider all these things and do the following:
Do a run starting at 12/12. Just skip the 18/6 part. It's optional and can create bigger plants. But starting at 12/12 will ensure they flower as soon as they can. And select the right genetics. Don't use auto's
Also do some major LST and topping.
Especially the LST is important.
Hold them down, make it kinky :D
Kinda like this:
Okey you can't see the bondage ropes under the leaves here. But trust me all this grow is 90% horizontal and 10% vertical

Man, you know your stuff! ā¦NL is very low odor and my favorite strain, Ive grown it four times now..Ive also grown White Widow and Durban Poison, all being low odor strains..(NL was the best, White Widow extremely potent but a little more stinky than NLā¦)Hey u might be right there..

I have 4 carbon filters, made by gorilla..I figured Iād stock up while they had a sale. Have a 4 inch Ac infinity fan and a 4 inch passive intakeā¦(I may drill another 4 inch intake, it might not be enoughāsomething I was gonna ask you about)
No pics yet, I donāt have any threads up and try not to spam others grow diaries unless given permission. Itās funny that you complain there are not enough people here, and on other forums people complain if you spam their diaries. I just ask now.

Iām working on my grow safe, needs a little fine tuning (got a new light) and will be starting a Brothers Grimm Apollo diary soon. Iāll post pics as soon as I get started (should be a few weeks)
You may or may not be impressedā¦I grow small amounts of weed, nobody understands why.. Basically, I simply donāt need a lot of weed, I wind up giving it all awayā¦So, 4-8 colas mainlined in a circle is my styleā¦Usually around 2.5 ounces.
Funny how people cannot understand that not everyone wants a lot of weed⦠I get to grow, thatās all that matters to me.. Weed is cheap, who cares how much? I donāt. All I care is about quality bud, grown by me.
Best diary ever man, please keep it up! Donāt worry too much about views etcā¦There are so many journals up now itās hard to notice all of them. Once people catch on though theyāll watchā¦.I had over 20k views and hundreds of responses on one of my grows on another forum 36 inches vertical space limitation and monster NL colas! People couldnāt believe it could be done..(pics soon)ā¦
I even had a guy say that he was going to stop growing big plants and start growing āall budsā plants like mineā¦Itās a long story, but if felt really good to get a compliment like thisā¦
Sorry for long post man, can delete if this clutters your threadā¦Iām chatty, always have been !
