CO2 is the shit if you can get it right. I’ve only ever had yield increase of about 20%, but for the cost of the gas and controller etc, all paid for itself in the first crop.

Just my opinion, but my advice is not be overly blasé about setting up an account with a gas supply company. If you’re a red eyed hillbilly with dreads as long as mine (not meaning to stereotype) staff in some places are required by law to report anything suss to Uncle Sam. Better off getting a friend to do it on your behalf and repaying the favor with some of your best.

People lose stuff. It’s an occupational hazard. I lost my mind ages ago.

I have read high levels of co2 cause plants to take up less nutes, so maybe they are heavier, hence the gain in carbon, but less potent and sweet?

Are you referring to this study?

http://elifesciences.org/content/3/e03233.abstract

Says the mechanism for this is unclear, but I would imagine this is because those minerals are already limited, ie. in the outside environment soils may be poor or whatever. Study should be replicated on hydro weed that has access to optimal levels of essential minerals.

meh, weed that is less nutritious is something i can live with. what WILL cause me lost sleep is weed that is less potent. if co2 is causing an 8% decrease of thc in my sourdiesel - then fuck that!! btw thanks heaps 4 the link ;)

Ive come across this really interesting project thats funded by bill gates called the C4 rice project. This shit is frickin insane. These scientists are trying to turn rice, with is C3 into C4, to feed a billion starving people! Doesn’t take much of a leap of imagination to wonder what would happen if they succeed and then apply that tech to cannabis.

Yeah that would be wicked. C4 plants are basically the photosynthesis titans of the plant kingdom. They evolved only recently and constitute only a handful of monocots like some grasses. Actually maize is a C4 plant and that’s the reason for its super fast growth. Sugar cane is another. Rice however is a lowly slow growing C3, like weed and most other plants on earth. The project they are undertaking is huge and I doubt if they are going to succeed in the near future.

Well I don’t know if you’ve read much about it or not, but it’s like trying to create a mouse with gills. There’s a lot of machinery that needs to be re-engineered in there. C4 plants' physiology is totally different. They have a carbon fixing system called Kranz anatomy. Just Google it if your really into the science, but to sum it up in a sentence, they have special cells that actively pump CO2 into specialized compartments unlike ordinary CO2 diffusion that’s characteristic of C3 systems, and thus circumvent the inefficiencies of typical carbon fixation. Also C4 plants thrive in higher temps and are better tolerant to drought and N deficiency. C4 weed plant in DWC with CO2 enrichment could be grown in 86F temps. It would be like a plant on steroids on steroids on steroids. All for it…

I disagree. You don’t want to do that. That will cause positive pressure inside the room causing 1; smells to waft out, 2; pushing out precious expensive CO2.

Sorry but thats nonsense,,, When Co2 goes into the air pump and mixes with PH down in the system it cause serious issues, Do your research before posting mate as I've had this problem and it cost me dearly!!

No, I'm exactly on the money. I have done my research, I recommend you do the same. Get yourself a decent controller if you're having issues.

Every ones water if different, Mine is a ph of 7.2 out of the tap which is reasonably hard!. therefore i need to use a reasonable amount of PH down!. this is where Co2 if mixed with the nutes will have a reaction! i.e. having the pumps in the grow room!. Ive done it and been through it!! so for you to say its wrong and won't happen is nonsense!. If your lucky enough to have decent water then fair one!! And the idea of posting is to help people out!.

I started running my UC's with pumps in my room with the co2, I built rooms with pumps outside and a side by side with the pumps inside after reading these same type of things. There was no difference between the rooms and because they were already set up I ran them that way for over a year with equal results. I'm sure everyone has their own issues but I never saw a difference. Now all my UC rooms have the pump at the most central location, making each airline as short as possible, inside my room. My h2o also comes out 7.2, sucks for initial mix but once I have it dialed it's no issue. I wanna know if you run a sealed room? If so do you ever bring in fresh air on a cycle timer or something? Sometimes the environmental nailing can be a bitch and have us chasing our tails in a direction different than the simple basics our girls love.. Best

Yes, the idea of posting is to help people out. That's exactly what I was doing. As you say "everyone is different". Ergo, just because my advice doesn't work for you doesn't mean what I said was "rubbish". Your attitude is the problem here. Several people in this thread alone have agreed with what I said, based on their own experiences. Does that make all of us full of shit? Or does that simply mean that for you, what I said is not a solution? I can only speak from my own experience. Sorry if you're having problems, but no need to give me unnecessary attitude.

@bobby34
see my post above. if you have different data, please post your methods and results so that we can sort it out.
