Was starting 4 seeds for a new indoor grow (candy rain × Lemon Gojo). 2 of the 4 didn't pop up when planted directly in soil which is unusual for @Variety719 seeds so I did some digging. Found 2 of these guys around a seed that had popped but never grew. They look and move like maggots. Very small, only a few millimeters. The soil has my own compost in it so it has been sitting outside for months .

My first reaction was that it's a maggot. But they're smaller? Who knows how many of those are in the soil at this point. Good luck. Hopefully someone can chime in on a remedy.

Gnat larve is what comes to mind.
I've seen these in rotting produce, like potatoes n such.

What all was in the soil/ your amendments that sat in wait.

Every time I have gnats in the house, the first thing I check is my taters n onions.
