Ok. Cool. You won't need Epsom salt if you're using calmag.
I'm trying to learn haha. Only reason I PhD the water is because it's like 9.0 out the faucet. If you ever do go fully organic on newer runs you can ditch the ph meter & live a easier life not having to test or change the ph
I use guano witch is organic it doesn’t take to long to kick in 2 days roughly if you use it as a tea a bit longer if you top dress however it can be tricky as it’s slow release & there’s no chart so you have to read the plants more
I like the fact your looking at building your own soil
Same here, my tap water comes at 9+ ph so I have to treat it. You can get away with a slightly higher ph than 7 in organic but is not optimal. Many people will get away with it because they use osmotized water which has a ph of 6,5 or distilled water which has a ph of 7 but with a high ph from tap water problems will also start showing. If its sligtly more than 7 you can also get away with it because microorganisms do fine from 6 to 7ph and those are the ones that are gonna feed your plant when they decompose the nutrients but you can also increase nutrient uptake by reducing the ph to 6,2 and 6,5 like youre doing. Of course higher and faster nutrient intake is not always good but assuming youre not overfeeding it should be more optimal.I'm trying to learn haha. Good point yes, always ph your water after adding the nutes. I had a supplement that kept putting my water at 5ph, I dont use it now because it was super annoying having to use ph up every time I watered.Don't know if you guys have talked about it or not, however just an fyi...if nutrients are added to tap water it's best to PH after nutrients are added, it's the best way to that i have used to balance my base, it's a good problem to solve before any funny business.
Anyway just an fyi
That would be a painGood point yes, always ph your water after adding the nutes. I had a supplement that kept putting my water at 5ph, I dont use it now because it was super annoying having to use ph up every time I watered.
Yeah, I ph after nutes. The first time I watered I realized the nutes change the ph.Good point yes, always ph your water after adding the nutes. I had a supplement that kept putting my water at 5ph, I dont use it now because it was super annoying having to use ph up every time I watered.
EDIT: Just in case, no, it wasnt fermented. The bottle said that the liquid had a PH of 3.
That's what I've been using. General hydroponics ph down. Been going good so far. I should go the organic route but ph down seems easier. The more water trick is good but not for me because then I end up with excess water that ferments. Im a cheapskate like that, I wont throw any nuted water hahaha. Im also not a fan of citric acid because is more short lived than other acids that are used to control the PH of the soil, meaning you can burn your roots and your PH wont be stable. I know that biobizz ph down is basically citric acid, it can be used, I just dont like it. I prefeer phosphoric acid and nitric acid which are way more long lived in the soil, general hydroponics ph down is hands down the best in my opinion.
When I started growing I thought I was gonna be using only scraps to grow, that was many years ago, how naive I was. I was giving them compost teas from my kitchen scraps and using lemon juice to decrease the ph, it wasnt long before I ordered bottled nutes so they wouldnt die hahaha.
I wasn’t either tell my buddy gave me an earth box with his mix in it. It made me a believer. Now I have three tents growing organic. Once you taste the flavor from a living soil grow you will never go back.Im not a living soil guy
Can you make a close up pic of a couple of buds of each plant? I think its fairly close but might be the pic playing tricks on me. I downloaded it and zoomed in and I dont know if the pistils are curled or just too pixelated.Yikes! I still messed up somewhere, either the medium is still locked out or I just have not been using enough nutes. (Fox farm).
There's still probably another week or 2 or 3 left lol. Do you think it's better to just water to the end or still try nutes? The sugar leaves are dying. Aside from bud rot, will the bud still be usable?
My other plant is fading I think.
Sure. I'll take a close up pic this evening after work. The pistils are still a little white and not too curled yet.Can you make a close up pic of a couple of buds of each plant? How much dose of nutes did you use and how many times since in the time since the first pic to now?
No bud rot yet. I read that the dying leaves could cause bud rot. My temps around 74f and 52% humidity. I've been keeping that down. The buds look good! I can see some curled pistils but yes there's also white ones. As for the trichomes I cant see shit hahaha but based on the pistils I would give it 1 more week unless the leaf damage is progressing to the bud leaves (doesnt seem to be the case for now, only the tips which you can cut easily after choping). You mentioned bud rot before, do you have it? If so a wash after harvest with water and hydrogen peroxide will dissolved the mold like its cotton candy, exposing the brown rot in the bud, which you can cut with scissors. After the water and hydrogen peroxide bath you will want to rinse in only water and then dry with a fan until theyre not soaking wet before or after hanging them. Turn off the fan as soon as theyre not soaking wet, you dont want them to dry too soon.
EDIT: Dont use tap water unless tap water is great where you live.
i had bud rot last year and it started on the dead stub of sugar leaves i had snipped off, they fall off if you touch them after about a week so now i make sure they are all off.No bud rot yet. But so far so good Thanks!. I'll keep you posted. Think I'm gonna order a loupe.
