can you tell if a plant is male or female by smell

my plant is about 3 feet tall and is about to start budding since i live in socal but i was wondering if i could tell if its a male or female by the smell ever since it was little it had smellt more than the other ones and it especially comes from the tops please can somebody give me some feed back or just there opinion on what they think might happen.

14 days after flowering begins you will either see female hairs or male seed sacs smell is not a way to determine gender be patient if it has male sacs pull it immediatly

if it is male will it produce seeds atleast, i dont have any other plants

pollen on a female = seeds.

so there is pretty much no use in having a male if theres no female

If it smells like the tide going out it's a female. lol JK

If she is 3' tall get a glass and look where the branch meets the stem. You should be able to tell. If the nub fits flush with branch it's a female. If there is a noticeable crack or light under then it's a a good chance it's a male.
