If you're looking for somewhere to buy hops plants, Freshops is a good source:

I read an article a while back where a biologist (or some such) grafted a branch of cannabis onto a hops vine and it continued to grow. They're pretty closely related from what I gather.

Don't suppose you have a link to that?

Google something like "marijuana hops grafting". It may or may not be possible.

As kind of an aside I've brewed beer in the past and uncompressed/high quality hops bears a strong resemblance to bud. It even has crystals/resin, only it's yellow instead of white.

Yup, I'm a homebrewer and hops grower as well -- the bines die back each year, and new shoots are sent up in the spring.

Yeah, the resin is sticky, too! When I buy hops, I buy it bulk (1 lb or more), and the shake at the bottom of the bag could probably be rolled into a hop-hash ball.

Nice looking hops buds. I saw those for sale in a dispensary labeled AK-47!

This is correct! Hops are the closest relative to cannabis and the only other plant that is compatible for grafting. Their climate and nutrient requirements are also similar in many ways. If you want to do a side by side test, hops are the closest you can get to growing cannabis.

This is a good thread. What I'd also like to see is more breeders developing disease and pest-resistant strains but doing it al' natural.' Also getting strains precisely selective for certain climates and elevation would be the cats ass. Hey, the sky is the limit. But what I don't want to see if splicing genetic material from fish dNA into cannabis in order to make it withstand colder conditions (as they now do with tomatoes)
