At least...
I say 2 foot for a week, and lets see how they grow.
And let them stretch a lil,
and build a good root structure to push water/feed at them leaves and buds because then we will need them close and we need the roots established so they can do there part!

I got 2 - 3' plants under (3) 53 watt t5s...
One of my leaves has more leaf light absorbing material than your whole plant..

As small as it is, we could prob keep it alive with a led flashlight!

Im waiting to see some others chime in on this for your benefit.
Because I know your having a hard time with this...

Dude, a foot is long as f*ck lol

Remember Im all of your buddies, so no ill feelings, just my 2 cents homies.................................

Im gonna ask you all,,
with all due respect,
does them plants look all right?

I know a few of you guys got some skill and knowledge,
do they not look heat stroked, dehydrated, and in need of a cooler environment?
Now most of you said, in your defense,
as close as the plants can handle it.

So technically your answer is correct..
But i reiterate,
do them plants look healthy?
Does the leaves look like normal growth?
Does the node spacing look normal?

Of course it dont.
We all can see that.
So why?

When plants are unhealthy,
its because
A. lack of water
b. lack of light
c. lack of photosynthesis

Those plants are no bigger than my clones.
How much light do you think those tiny leaves can utilize?

Lets jump to another point.
If he had a lack of light,
what would be the symptoms?
Elongating of the stem.
Agreed?

Do we see that?
NO,
as a matter a fact we see the opposite.
which is called miniaturization.
Which is when the leaves are bombarded with to much light, to low relative humidity,
and because of the vpd factor in transpiration, the stomatas close and restrict the leaves from losing moisture in self defense of the heat stress.. When that happens, plants quit photosynthesizing..
Esp the top of the plant under the lights because the leaves have worked too hard and/or too long from the light being too close. The leaves aren't able to keep up with regular plant processes.
Imagine sitting outside all day under a scorching sun, possibly for days on end. Even if you could handle it for a day or two, it might wear you down over days or weeks. That is what is happening here..

I know the taboo is cfl's ,,
get them close...
Lets talk about that for a min...

When we look at a light, say leds,
and we look at the foot print,
we get 2 different numbers..
We may get 4x4 in veg,
and 3x3 in flower...
Simply because a plant in veg doesn't need near as much as a plant in flower to
PRODUCE COLAS..
Colas are a big resinous factory,
requiring tons of everything,
but veg plants require less of everything...
\
So in flower, being just lil cfl's we want them close as we can with out causing heat stress and light burn,
but in veg, we need them up,
so the plants will stretch to them..
He has 260 watts of light. Ive felt a 47 watts or whatever cfl,
there hot!
Imagine 260 watts of that 6 inches away..
Fuck might as well put them in an oven!

Now if we take what we know about heat, and dehueys,
we know that they heat up the air around it,
to reduce the rh...
So does the heat from the light!
So you cause 2 problems simultaneously,
that effects transpiration,
the super highway for c02 to enter the stomata,
so you can have photosynthesis...

So now we are hot as hell, dry as hell, and very lil uptake of c02...

I guess its just my opinion, but my pappy told me
Son when you think your right,
you say so,
even if you got to do it alone....

So I disagree with everybody here so far...
Back the lights off...
when they are bigger than my recently rooted clones then you can put them closer...
In flower is where you will need every lil watt.............

Maybe that environment is perfecto. It's a tad easier to answer the question rather than throw a bunch of growing advice in. No hate here. I start slow and if there are more Q's to answer than that's that. It is true that then bulbs should definitely be used as household bulbs. They are not meant for growing.
I'll help as much as possible. Let's do this

That's true. Not meant for growing. These bulbs are also facing the canopy vertically. They're not as effective if they're pointing right at the plants. Not even close to the surface area you get out of T5 tubes. But options are going to be this limited for only the next 4-5 weeks so I'm looking forward to then.

Smerb... wtf did you just say?
Perfecto environment?

I'm gonna take it your latino, with the word perfecto..
That environment is about as far from perfecto as the martian atmosphere is to human existence. ... I agree test cfl is more of a household bulb but we can still grow with it as long as we reduce the 1000000 par radiation that they are now getting...

I think you have read an article on horizontal vs vertical lighting in hid, and your trying to use that philosophy with cfl...

It's easy to get confused with all the information out there...

No way. I'm that cornfed white boy, born in Illinois. I was just throwing in that perfecto. For no reason. All them bulbs, there maybe a bunch of fans and a few filters, plus some more growing equipment. I was joking. All them bulbs are a disaster.
