Hi everyone,

I'm a new member and a new grower. I have seven outdoor plants growing at the moment. I was hoping for some guidance on determining when and how to switch to bloom nutrients.

In my reading there appears to be a range of views on the topic. Is the best way to determine when to switch to bloom nutrients by observing the plants? If so, I am still unsure of when a plant changes from pre flower to flower?

I'm a little nervous about stuffing up having come all this way

Here is one of my girls. I'm happy with how she is going so far, but don't have a good reference point as this is my first grow. Blueberry feminized from Seedsman.

That’s a healthy looking canopy. I’m on my fourth grow and have learned from some serious mistakes. Like they say “Experience is something you get right after you need it”. I made some serious over feeding mistakes but because I was paranoid I constantly checked my runoff vitals (pH and TDS) almost daily and learned about over feeding as it relates to leaf appearance. I alternate “Flower Fuel” and General Hydroponics “Kool Bloom” with straight r/o water on days in between and I use concentrations as per manufacturerer’s directions. I also give a weekly dose of CalMag Plus. At the end of week 6 I switch to Atami Bloombastic and use per directions on bottle every other days with straight water days in between. I grow in soil...Fox Farms “Ocean Forest”. My moral of this story is don’t overdue it with the nutes. Also, I think the Atami product, though expensive is worth it. My 2nd & 3rd grows were same strain. Third grow had Atami for last three weeks and buds were a lot denser. There is no reason for alternating the “ Flower Fuel” and “Kool Bloom” other than I have both of them and I’ve heard from more experienced growers that the first half of flower one needs to get a higher of PK which can be had from a less expensive source than the “Bloombastic” which, btw, a little goes a long way. Like I said I am only on my fourth grow and am still a newbie at this but feel pretty confident about what I feed my plants and seeing their appearance. The photos I enclosed are taken today. Front plant is Cali Orange and rear two are Maui and Chem Dawg. I flipped them 4 days prior to taking of pics

I would transplant into larger containers myself. Those are great for indoors, but come flowering time she is going to be root hound and causing all kinds of ph problems and lock out. Just my 2 cents. Here's one of mine in a 200 gallon pot and im thinking 400 gallons next year. They have only been outside since may 12th. They were 18 inches then.
On to your question. If I'm forcing the plant to flower I give it full strength veg mix until the second week. Then I switch.
If its naturally flowering I keep feefing it veg mix till I see little buds, then I clean out my insides and switch to full strength bud mix. I stop on week 7 and flush with liquid bone meal every watering. Helps pack on the weight in the end.
