My problem in the beginning was that I thought I was in a mix of soil and coco.... Embarrassing to admit but eh :shockedninja: Doing much better now that I know im in a soilless blendCoco requires more ca and don't let your medium dry out feed every time that's it. Once 50% dry water again repeat. Easiest medium IMO

Thanks bro, easy to stay humble and leard what I can here. You mentioned peat, any pearls of wisdom on that? My mix is roughly 60% coco coir, 35% sphagnum peat with some ewcNothing to be embarrassed about, I treated coco like peat for years and my yields were terrible. Keep on truckin' boss, only way to learn!
BTW, always enjoy your root pics in the potm contest.Nothing to be embarrassed about, I treated coco like peat for years and my yields were terrible. Keep on truckin' boss, only way to learn!

Good question as its already mixed up. Its black gold waterhold coco blend. So far I've been treating it like coco. I'm using nectar for the gods and they seem to be responding well now that I'm feeding every time I water now. I appreciate the advice. How much is some ewc? I really don't have a good answer for ya bro, sorry. Maybe you could get away with a little less runoff but I can't speak from experience with a mix like that.
There was an article in high times a few years back where a guy was running a mix like that and just treated it like you would normal coco. Not that high times is the most reputable place for growing advice but it may be a start.
Thank you, sir. just trying to change things up.
Edit: your best bet, IMO, would be to ditch any/all additives and just run the base nutes (it's coco specific I assume). The plants will love it and it'll limit how many "moving parts", so to speak, are in your system. Just ramp it up or ramp it down.
1) Tap has Chloramine. Bubbling alone leaves Chloramine intact. Chloramine kills your beneficials. BAD. Easiest and best way is add simple Vitamin C powder, which breaks Chloramine down to Chlorine, which bubbles out in 24hrs. CHEAP!I'm looking for tips not running the nectar line in coco. Any help on coco specific feedings would be awesome. I'm quickly learning what I can about soilless mediums as I mistakenly started my first grow in a mix of coco and sphagnum :drunk2: so far I've been running 1/4 strength advanced line and some general organics bio root. I bubble for about 24 hours and have been using tap ph'd around 6.0
FEED, FEED, water.... repeat...How much is some ewc? I really don't have a good answer for ya bro, sorry. Maybe you could get away with a little less runoff but I can't speak from experience with a mix like that.

Thanks for the tip, I was using a Brita pitcher to filter the water but it doesn't take out all of the chloramine. I am using general organics bio root, didn't know it was a Monsanto company. ALSO it keeps all those minerals intact, unlike RO!
Vitamin C that shit! 1000mg turns a 55g drum into chlorine water instantly!
2) your pH with Nectar should be 6.2-6.8 .... they say so on the chart. Its a Calcium based line. higher pH than usual = best
3) Oregons Only (N4tG company) makes coco prewashed, mixed, has myco, has perlite. Its called Franks Mix #4. I use it, no amendments.
Coco is perfect for N4tG. Shitty salty brick coco sucks. Get good stuff in bags, washed, charged, fluffed up, like a lightweight soil.
4) Fuck General Hydro. They're a Monsanto company. Use Veg+Bloom for an inexpensive, low EC/PPM base. That's my current experiment, and all are happy.
I also do full line Advanced N4tG, including Kraken, 1x a week in small pot cloth (1g) coco and they've exploded. =)
Hope this helps.

Disagreed completely, in my experience. Won't get into argument. For you, whatever works best! Respect.GH kills it compared to V+B
I cannot recomend Nectars perfect from bag #4 coco highly enough myself. Thanks for the tip, I was using a Brita pitcher to filter the water but it doesn't take out all of the chloramine. BRO! Nice!Oh, I didn't win potm, not by a long shot, @Funkadelic But if ya'll appreciate good root porn here's some more:View attachment 641351
Just to add, I would never, except for final flush, irrigate coir with plain water, it may be a bit different because of the added peat but straight water messes up the bond between the coir and the fertilizer. But, I'm also an amateur, so if it works for you then far be it from me to influence your system:)
BRO! Nice!
Yeah, my cloth 1-3g pots become blocks like that. ALL feeder roots too. My new experiment is beyond successful. Been vegging and fixing environment for a couple months. NO MORE fvcked up rounds. NO MORE bugs, pm, pests, lockouts, etc.
In last couple weeks, plants fully exploded and enormous side branches now breaking from sheer weight. MUST cage and flower this week. Biggest indoor trees Ive ever seen. And recent explosion either roots finally fully filling pots and/or Nectar for the Gods full Advanced line feedings 1/week (2 so far).
Theyve doubled in 10 days and were already healthy.
