Thank you!!!Been growing in ocean forest and coco but never strait coco!! Exciting!Welcome to the Farm!
I grow in rockwool with 2 wide open 1/4" tubes going to each plant; that run continually when the lights are on. The 20 gallon reservoir gets topped up with ro water and full strength nutrients including cal-mag, every day (13-16 gallons/day by end of stretch). Like rockwool, coco is inert and must be fed up to twice per day during heavy growth.
Never let coco dry out it'll become hydrophobic -
- Goes hydrophobic: fibers shrink, pull from pot walls; water beads and channels past roots instead of soaking in.
- Salt/EC spikes: as water leaves, salts concentrate; first re-wet can dump a hot mix on roots → burn.
- pH/biology drift: micro-life stalls; fine root hairs die back; medium structure tightens.
Good luck, Happy Growing!
Thank you !! Maybe start with 2ml per gallon once a week see how that works!!Calcium needs go through the roof as your plants start flowering. You may need to use more cal-mag through out the grow. Cal-mag tends to be more than a one or 2 time thing through out a grow. This is especially true in coco under LEDs.
Here's a couple pics, in case you think I'm fosWelcome to the Farm!

I water once a day to 50 percent runoff and full dose of calmag every time. I always run into problems if I don’t. Coco is great. If you mess up just flush it with nutrient water.Thank you !! Maybe start with 2ml per gallon once a week see how that works!
In my system, I flush every 7 days. 1 hr with plain ph water, Then drain res and refill with full strength nutrients. It's like starting brand new every 7 days - This pretty much eliminates any deficiencies OR excess salt buildup in the rockwool slabs... I weigh lbs and keys instead of grams & oz'sI water once a day to 50 percent runoff and full dose of calmag every time. I always run into problems if I don’t. Coco is great. Yep. Making sure it all stays rinsed out and fresh is where it’s at. I usually do the 50 percent runoff and flush every couple weeks on top of that.In my system, I flush every 7 days. 1 hr with plain ph water, Then drain res and refill with full strength nutrients. Man that’s gonna be rough with the runoff! Maybe will tilt pots a littleYep. Making sure it all stays rinsed out and fresh is where it’s at. I usually do the 50 percent runoff and flush every couple weeks on top of that.
I get about 5 ounces growing with fox farms but water every 2 days ! This may be a challenge!
