^ remember the coco is a diff feed schedule / some modifications . No reason to mess it up by that and blame product by using soil feeding schedule .

IME using a variac as a motor controller is a mistake.Diggin this Variac for my inline recirc fan!
Now I can junk the cheapie POS controller.

Lowering the voltage to an AC motor reduces the speed by starving the motor of power, thus stalling it out.
Inefficient power use yields heat.
It looks like it is working, but it's a fail for overheating and motor failure.

So far, it runs cool and quiet at any speed.
